Stateside Pie & Beer is a restaurant concept from the company that runs Johnny Carino’s Italian Restaurants. Aiming for a more casual audience in suburban Texas, Stateside was inspired by 1940s & 1950s America. After choosing a name & creating a logo for Stateside, we developed an easy to use website that could accommodate all of the information that comes with a restaurant website while still being easy to digest for customers. Marina’s Margarita Mix. Marina’s is a new low-calorie margarita mix made in Texas using only all-natural ingredients. The packaging was designed to pay homage to the Texas heritage of the brand’s namesake while staying light and standing out on the shelf. Building out the brand story also involved creating a paper system for the company partners that was consistent with the brand that distributors and customers would see. 2011-2012 at PMG Austin. Johynny Carino’s Italian restaurant needed a new direction that highlighted their original recipes and hand-made-never-frozen approach to cooking. With locations in 33 states, 2 names (Carino’s Italian and Johnny Carino’s), multiple franchisees, and countless dishes and specials, Carino’s needed an advertising campaign that worked for any dish and any location no matter how old or new. 2011 at PMG Austin. Coming in with a clear vision of what he wanted for his brand, we worked with Nak Armstrong and his team to create a unique way of telling the story of his brand through use of cinemagraphs on the web and at events. With photographer Bill Sallans. We shot stop-motion videos and portraits of the jewelry that I later worked into surreal cinemagraph images. These images created a story outside of the norm in fashion advertising and provided a strong visual identity for the brand. Photography by Bill Sallans.

I began experimenting with charcoal drawing and ceramics, although for many years was more of an art spectator. I was the child and teenager who was genuinely interested in visiting galleries and museums while vacationing with family. For me the transition from art appreciation to spectator began in University when I studied art history in Munich Germany. My studies took me to some of the greatest art museums in the world.
