A Young Pastor's View: May 2015

http://jenandtheology.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

A Young Pastor's View. Thursday, May 14, 2015. In my head, I know the path is some little used, alternate dirt driveway for one of the houses nearby, yet it calls to me. The call is only made stronger by the clear "Posted" sign just a little way down the track. As I read the sign, my hope increases. No hunting or fishing it says! I was right to take a closer look! Four years of longing to explore this path, and all it took was a closer look! I move toward the "forest" and drink in the view. Emergent Vill...

A Young Pastor's View: Evangelism

http://jenandtheology.blogspot.com/2010/09/evangelism.html

A Young Pastor's View. Sunday, September 5, 2010. Evangelism has often been a dirty word in liberal circles. I grew up with a clear distinction between missions and evangelism (with the focus on missions). In reading "The Continuing Conversion of the Church". I've been amazed and excited by the merging of the two in ways I have not seen before. The things I've always learned about missions and being a "missionary" apply to evangelism. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Interesting Books I've Referenced.

A Young Pastor's View. Monday, February 22, 2010. It's interesting how something that is almost tangential or not central to a conversation, a book, or a classroom lecture can take hold of the listener. I can say that many times it is the Holy Spirit. Saturday, February 20, 2010. What's my Ethical System? I know I draw heavily on love as my method and virtues as my goal. So what ethical system do you think you are? When in Rome do as the romans Do: cultural relativism. I couldn't help myself: behaviorism.

A Young Pastor's View: Investing in Hope

http://jenandtheology.blogspot.com/2014/10/investing-in-hope.html

A Young Pastor's View. Thursday, October 9, 2014. One of my first favorite scriptures was Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future." I quoted this scripture often before I finally thought I should really read the book I so often quoted. I then found that Jeremiah was a pretty doom and gloom kind of guy! Where was the hope filled guy from 29:11? I didn't get very far into the book. As a young perso...

Whats the point of a faith that does nothing? | Desi's DC Blog

https://beingintentionalindc.wordpress.com/2010/02/11/dear-church-stop-lying-and-believe

Desi's DC Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. Whats the point of a faith that does nothing? For the past month, I have been wandering in the realms of reality in contrast to the imagined world of Christiandom I often find myself playing and I have found that much of the time, I do not really believe what I say I believe. I want to believe,I say I believe, but I don’t really believe. That night we went to worship together with other seminary students, where one of our mutual friends preached on havin...

Thursday, October 30, 2008. I think I have totally abandoned my blog! It is too much updating the other one and keeping house, schooling the kids and having a busy schedule.so, for those of you who only use this as a launching pad to other blogs I will keep it up but don't expect to ever see this page change again! Unless of course I get so much free time on my hands that I am at a loss as to what to do. YEAH, like that will ever happen! Saturday, May 03, 2008. Thursday, April 10, 2008. I must say that i...

The Robins Nest

A place to watch our princess grow. Monday, August 8, 2011. Update for the Summer. This is what our grass looks like now. I can't believe that the cactus is here! The weather here is ridiculous. We have had CRAZY heat! Breaking all kinds of records. You must wear shoes outside now. The grass is so hard and crunchy that it hurts your bare feet! I included this, so you could see what our grass used to look like. :-(. Also, we survived VBS! Who knew my daughter was so artistic! She is wearing 5T clothes!

Mom by day, Rockstar by night. Tales from my life. Day in, day out. Strange things my children say and do. What we laugh about. What I get frustrated about. Why I am so exhausted. Friday, January 14, 2011. Jag has been pretending she is Anastasia and it's her birthday all day today. We had a party this morning where she opened "gifts" which were items of hers that she wrapped in doll blankets and assigned to each of us to give to her. Just now she came begging for cake and ice-cream! When my two older ki...

Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Israel Days 1 and 2 continued. After spending our first morning in Meggido we headed to Nazareth. This little fenced in area contains the actual cave where Mary was supposed to have lived. The only good thing is that they have actually kept the cave as it may have been 2000 years ago. Unfortunately my camera did not take great pictures in the dim interior. Countries from all over the world have donated mosaics, paintings or sculptures depicting the Mother and Child. I was hopi...
