Springfield: Top Tens - Just For Fun
http://springfieldgarden.blogspot.com/p/my-lists.html
The story of our garden. Top Tens - Just For Fun. You are either a List person or not. I am a list person. Here are some of my current lists:. Things to put in the compost heap. People who are consistently late – they are rude! Cup cakes – the world is full of them now. Politicians who do not answer the questions asked. Any gadget which makes more washing up. Paint charts – what colour is Sierra Sunset? Anything that is supposedly ‘free’ but requires £4.50 postage. Things to nurture in the propagator:.

Springfield: Postcard from Lake Maggiore, Italy
http://springfieldgarden.blogspot.com/p/photo-gallery.html
The story of our garden. Postcard from Lake Maggiore, Italy. Don't worry, this is not a travelogue and I promise not to bore you with thousends of holiday snaps. However, a trip to the Italian Lakes and visits to some amazing Italian gardens cannot go without a mention on a gardening blog. So here we go. a whistle stop tour of our travels at the end of September 2011. Now that is what I call a fountain - but they only turn it on for VIPs. It is truly a work of art but strutting your stuff and showing...

Springfield: Spring
http://springfieldgarden.blogspot.com/p/spring.html
The story of our garden. Tulips in pots add a splash of colour. Have I remembered to buy stem ginger to go with the rhubarb? All we need now is the Hollandaise Sauce! A host of golden daffodils. Asian Pear Tree blossom. Come on Hellebores, do try and lift your heads up! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The dirt is under our fingernails and it just won't budge. We have found our paradise in a tangle of thorns, hard work and frustration. When we go away, we miss the garden more than the house! Me and My Mum.

Springfield: June 2015
http://springfieldgarden.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
The story of our garden. Monday, 29 June 2015. A little snooze on the side. Most people find preparing for holidays stressful. There is a lot to do and if you a gardener you have to make sure there are watering systems or babysitters organised for your precious plants. In fact, it reminded us of our caravanning holidays. It has a cosiness and friendliness about it. We had concerns that we would not use the Garden Room enough to justify the expenditure but we need not have worried. The strawberries are ab...

Springfield: Winter
http://springfieldgarden.blogspot.com/p/winter.html
The story of our garden. Beech tree sculpted in snow. Over-wintered onions and shallots are doing well. Are snowdrops the last flower of Winter or first flower of Spring? Don't even think about throwing a snowball at the camerawoman! Bleak mid winter - or beautiful? The greenhouse is put to bed. Standing leeks do not look pretty but are full of flavour - if Doc can dig them up! Here's hoping the chard and kale will keep going a little longer! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Where we are rooted. Me and My Mum.

Springfield: Green is the colour
http://springfieldgarden.blogspot.com/2015/05/green-is-colour.html
The story of our garden. Tuesday, 26 May 2015. Green is the colour. I know a lady who hates yellow flowers and another who loathes white ones. Me? Nothing clashes and colour literally brightens us all up. For me it is the pops of colour fizzing in front of a green backdrop that excites me. There is one exception however (does that prove the rule? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Springfield is where we feel alive, it's. Where we are rooted. Me and My Mum. This blog is a diary of what we get up to in o...

Springfield: This and That
http://springfieldgarden.blogspot.com/2015/06/this-and-that.html
The story of our garden. Monday, 29 June 2015. The strawberries are abundant and we are full to bursting. I have decided to try freezing some of the surplus to make jam in the autumn. Using frozen berries works with raspberries, blackberries, red currants and blackcurrants so we will see if it works with strawberries. I doubt the flavour will be as good so I will add lemon juice to perk it up. The cut flower bed experiment is not quite as glorious as we hoped. They are remarkably long lasting in the vase...

Springfield: Through the Garden Gate
http://springfieldgarden.blogspot.com/p/through-garden-gate.html
The story of our garden. Through the Garden Gate. The Plot So Far. Looking back, we were either mad or naive to take Springfield on, probably both. Sometimes I straighten my back and think we are getting nowhere at all but when I look at old photos and see what we have achieved, I see the changes and wonder how we do it, along with everything else in our lives. In any case, our family has a strong work ethic and why would we sit around when there is work we can do? We started by doing the easy bit, walki...
