Posted by Clocked under Objects. My first class was a basic drawing course at BMCC in New York City. I had a really great teacher. I really didn’t know how lucky I was until I took another art class. This was my first homework assignment: Draw a chair. In pencil. My professor’s critique: “Great drawing. Lousy composition.” That’s the story of my life. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Posted by Clocked under Charcoal. This is a piece I did in my first art class. I learned two things: I’m not all that crazy about working in charcoal and I don’t really like landscapes. This piece was a first for both. I picked a winter scene because it was a challenge to look at the white snow as different values of grey. It doesn’t look so bad now and my mom liked it, so that’s something. It’s copied from a photo of the old Aldasoro Ranch, near my hometown in Colorado. 03-17-2010 at 6:07 pm.

Posted by Clocked under Acrylic. This semester, I’m taking a class in color theory at BCC. Yes, there’s another course blog. To deal with. The great thing in this class has been learning how to paint. I never wanted to paint before; I was too interested in lines and texture and black and white and the fine detail work of drawing. Now I understand what all those painters were talking about. Warm colors: red-violet, red, orange-red, orange, yellow-orange, yellow. Posted by Clocked under Graphic Design.

Posted by Clocked under Collage. I had an art class in high school, which was long before I was really interested in art. I remember that my teacher told me I should go to art school, which is advice I probably should have listened to. Oh well. Some of the little pieces have fallen off. I had a cat named Goldberry when I was younger and she chewed out a few sections from the top. When I look at it now, I’m struck by how remarkable it is that I saved it. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Clocked in Color: Paint Project #4 - Color Value Scale Design
http://clockedincolor.blogspot.com/2010/03/paint-project-4-color-value-scale_25.html
Jennifer Thurston's online portfolio for ART 107. March 25, 2010. Paint Project #4 - Color Value Scale Design. Assignment: Paint color-value scales for three primary or secondary colors and present them in a linear sequence with values between 0 and 10. Label the values and the low, middle and high keys. I didn't strictly follow the criteria because I eliminated some of the pure black and white values to keep the design balanced. I also didn't want to put labels on my painting. Welcome to my blog!

Friday, August 14, 2015. Greetings from Den Haag! So I have a goal to blog more and document my blessed life so I'm going to try to update more frequently with perhaps shorter posts. Well on Wednesday (or was it Tuesday? It's hard to keep track now) I left Provo for the big wide world with the help of my old mission companion's mom, Kerri Crane. She's great! She took me to the airport! A night in London! Whatever shall I do? So I just had an unreasonably fun time basking in the luxuriousness of my own ho...
