Tonight, Gavin decided that sniffing loudly throughout our family prayer was better than listening to me go on and on in the prayer about how good an example he had been that day. As I talked to him afterward and started to teach him a little bit about repentance, we determined that Heavenly Father was probably not too happy with his lack of reverence. With his little serious face, Gavin said to me: "Am I on the left hand of God? The Hansen Chron...

Saturday, February 26, 2011. Averi took her first steps about a week ago! The following video is likely totally uninteresting and way too long for anyone not emotionally invested in my children, but if you can tolerate me squealing like a dog's squeaky toy and Averi following suit, then sit back and enjoy! Mom and Dad: notice in the last 10 seconds of the video that Gavin says to me, "I'm going to go call your mom and dad." Off camera, he's getting a play phone, and you can hear him say, "Hello?

The Jacobs Family: Reflections on a Semi-Rural Existence
http://caseyandbrittny.blogspot.com/2011/10/reflections-on-semi-rural-existence.html
Friday, October 14, 2011. Reflections on a Semi-Rural Existence. We live sort of in the middle of nowhere. Although some aspects of living way out here are a little annoying sometimes (i.e. my nearest grocery store is 13.1 miles away and takes 20 minutes to drive to), there are a few little joys that I do love. We have to drive about a half an hour to get to the nearest library, so the library comes to us once a month. Apple orchards and the joy of picking our own are not too far away. The Bits 'N Teeces...

The Jacobs Family: September 2011

Saturday, September 24, 2011. Your air conditioning makes a horrid noise and costs you $375 to fix. And then you have to pay the termite people $777 for a full treatment. And your husband is out of town, leaving you to deal with all of this. Maintain some sense of order and happiness in your home. And then your car breaks down with you and your two young children in it while your husband is on a scout campout. All of this happened THIS WEEK. Apparently, I need a LOT of help putting on the divine nature.

Thursday, March 31, 2011. Telling a Hilarious Story. Minute to Win It. She was out of our sight for one minute, and then. What else are irresponsible parents supposed to do but take photos of the children they weren't watching very closely? Monday, March 28, 2011. Casey swallowed his T-ball dreams and consented, so we cheerfully shelled out the money. At the time, I think my mindset was along the lines of, "What is $65 when we are gaining precious memories? How naive was I. I should have known when we sh...

Friday, January 28, 2011. You Know It's True Love. As we sat across from each other at the dinner table tonight, Casey said the following to me:. You know Honey, I love you - even with hairy ankles and stuff in your teeth.". Both of these observations were absolutely true. Friday, January 14, 2011. Boy is a Sunbeam. 3 1/2-year-old, precious, incredibly smart, imaginative, sweet boy, dares. To get older and grow up. I've had such trouble with this. Boy would pick it right up again for me. Wednesday, November 10, 2010. What Gavin Knows About Prayer. I usually keep the baby monitors on in the morning if I leave the kids to play in their room while I get ready if I need to. This morning, Averi was not happy at all to have been left in her crib and she was letting us all know it. Gavin was making his bed/walking around without pants/playing/telling me "Um.I'm almost. High-pitched voice:) "Avi, maybe you could say a prayer to Heavenly Father to help you stop being so loud.". And look at you.
