A Tamil Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Murugan (the massive statue at Batu), who is the youngest son of Shiva and Parvati. According to wikipedia, Parvati gave Murugan a spear (vel, in Tamil I think) to battle a demon. We flew from Singapore to Bangkok last Thursday (2/11), for no other reason than Markus and I found that flights from Singapore to Bangkok were cheaper than flights from Singapore to Siem Reap, the Cambodian city that's sprung up around the ruins of Angkor Wat. From Boston to Singapore. Wednesday, February 10, 2010. Last weekend Markus decided to go on a nature walk, starting at the MacRitchie Reservoir Park. And walking to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Mike, Max and I came along, not realizing the degree to which Markus enjoyed walking.
