Archive for July, 2009. 8220;So you’re the one who took Frank’s job”. I knew almost immediately upon starting my job that I had big shoes to fill. The reporter I was replacing, Frank, was greeted at every meeting I shadowed him at with certificates, farewell speeches, hugs and parting gifts. I heard tales of how he was beloved in one community because he was the first Ionia […]. An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later. Unexpected experience | Holly Setter- Uncensored

My TFAS journalism professor, Richard Benedetto. Repeatedly told our group we should start at a small newspaper. He expounded on the benefits of establishing a smaller source network where you can personally know those you’re reporting on, greater opportunities to publish and get the big stories. I didn’t doubt him at the time, but I also hoped against hope to be able to just crash into the big-time. In my time here, I’ve covered a flood that submerged over 1,000 cars. The great beyond | Holly Setter- Uncensored

Since the day I stepped into the Watergate office of CongressDaily. Back in early February, I’ve been steadily chipping away at a monster of a project: “Life After Congress: The Members’ View.”. Or at least that’s what the top dogs decided to call the story yesterday, when it was finally published. On to the next one! But before that, here’s an excerpt). Although a batch ...

On camping and kittens | Beltway to Mini Beltway
https://dateswithkate.wordpress.com/2011/11/17/on-camping-and-kittens
Beltway to Mini Beltway. Life experiences. Let's go. Do I want to go down this road? On camping and kittens. November 17, 2011. Last weekend I wanted to sleep outside with my friends. In tents, you guys! So I brought my boyfriend to Juniper Springs in Marion County, which is not far from Salt Springs and Ocala, and several friends from St. Petersburg joined later. Photo by me from a lovely hike (but still second-best to banana boats). Wait, do you know the glory of a banana boat? Enter your comment here.
