Pro omnibus et singulis: Caritas in veritate
http://pro-omnibus-et-singulis.blogspot.com/2009/07/caritas-in-veritate.html
Pro omnibus et singulis. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam. I'm still working through the Pope's new encyclical Caritas in veritate. Charity in truth). Normally I get through these letters pretty quickly, but this one is dense to put it mildly. I don't mean that as a criticism, far from it. The Holy Father simply has a lot to say about a wide variety of topics. But that’s precisely what makes it so relevant and challenging — for Catholics and non-Catholics alike. Pro omnibus et singulis: December 2008

Pro omnibus et singulis. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam. A friend of mine brought this old newsreel of Cardinal Dulles' priestly ordination in the 1950's to my attention. It's worth a look. This morning Avery Cardinal Dulles SJ died at the Jesuit infirmary, Fordham University. I had the privileged of meeting Cardinal Dulles twice and found that he more than lived up to his reputation for grace and wisdom. The Society and the Church will feel the loss of this great theologian and priest. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Pro omnibus et singulis. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam. The goal of this class is to solve the most important and difficult problem in the history of the universe." -Dr. Moser in his introduction to Philosophy of God. As of today I'm officially a grad student, and what better way to start than with the "most important and difficult" questions. Does God exist? Do (Can) we know God exists? Now on to reflection. Greetings from Loyola University Chicago. My head is still spinning from all the recent business of vow...

Pro omnibus et singulis: Benedict and AIDS
http://pro-omnibus-et-singulis.blogspot.com/2009/03/benedict-and-aids.html
Pro omnibus et singulis. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam. Recently Pope Benedict received a lot of bad press for his supposedly naive view of AIDS prevention in Africa. One of my brother Jesuits, Michael Czerny, director of the Society's efforts for AIDS prevention in Africa wrote a wonderful piece contextualizing the Pope's comments both in the African scene and the larger Christian vision of reality. Here's a small snippet:. You can find the rest of the article at Thinking Faith. View my complete profile.

Pro omnibus et singulis: Cochabamba
http://pro-omnibus-et-singulis.blogspot.com/2009/06/cochabamba.html
Pro omnibus et singulis. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam. So far we're all still getting our barrings. One of the Bolivian Jesuits was kind enough to show us around the city, I am pleasently surprised how nice it is here, downright cheerful really. The weather is sunny all day. It gets down to about 40 in the night and up to maybe 75 during the day. Rain and clouds are rare this time of the year they tell me. More later and hopefully some pictures. Pro omnibus et singulis. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam. Today President Obama lifted the ban on Federal money for stem cell research. Needless to say I disagree vigorously with the President's decision.
