http://theladysmiths.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
A group of female metalsmiths who get together monthly in Northern Virginia. Thursday, September 26, 2013. This is our 3rd or 4th etching workshop- always an adventure etching metal in acid! Thanks to Sharon, Bodil, Odaybea, Caroline, Ellen K., and Ej for coming out today (and me, Dana! Odaybea carved a dragonfly body into a ring shape out of wax. She then etched it's wings and will attach them once the body is cast. Very very cool! Aren't Sharon's robots cool? Links to this post. Links to Member Websites.

A group of female metalsmiths who get together monthly in Northern Virginia. Thursday, March 21, 2013. Fleur-de-lis Earrings by Dana Evans. Today I finished a pair of new earrings and I thought I'd give you all a sneak peak. They include a pair of Australian opals I got in Tucson last month- I knew just how I wanted to use them! After this step, I needed to solder the bezels to a back plate. And here are the oxidized finished pair. I discovered that it was challenging to hammer/punch close these beze...

A group of female metalsmiths who get together monthly in Northern Virginia. Thursday, October 18, 2012. First Fall Meeting- Silhouette Cameo. Today we met at my house (Dana) so I could show everyone my new toy:. It's a Silhouette Cameo, and you can get one from SilhouetteAmerica.com. It's an electronic cutter, developed for the scrapbooker, but there are other uses. Here it is cutting some CopprClay, during a class I took this summer. You can even buy some adhesive vinyl and make your own glass etchings!

Newer posts →. Hearts, Love and Valentines. January 15, 2015. Brass and copper textured and riveted heart. Is there a more familiar symbol than hearts for expressing love, likes and such? Don’t we constantly say things like “I love this” for anything that we find pleasing from food to romantic love? Aventurine heart with carnelian in sterling silver. Framed copper puff heart with patina. My first wire heart pendant. Had enough, just imagine all the heart images I didn’t post. My New Bracelet Obsession.

Friday, October 14, 2011. How to: Heart Felt Soaps. Lovely Lady Leanne from Feel At Home. Brought me over some of her New Zealand olive and avocado oil handmade soaps (with sea salt and infused with essential oils of sweet fennel and Roman chamomile) to felt. So I thought I would document the process as I notice I haven't blogged about anything for a year or so, which is very slack of me. 1 Choose your soap and some colourful wool roving (merino felts nice and easily). 5 When the wool has started to felt...

Sunday, December 20, 2009. Most recent handspun Art Yarns. I've been having a relaxing time recently with my Majacraft Pioneer spinning wheel - getting some practice in! Doing coils, supercoils and 'granny' coils (! With a bit of corespinning and also add-ins such as pompoms. These are my latest yarns - all on the huge/super bulky scale of things! I bought an Ashford drum carder a while ago and now need to spend some time getting to know it better and feed it some interesting fibers (or small children).
