Contributing Data – Terms and Conditions. A Library Analytics and Metrics Service? Moving into the next phase of work. August 22, 2014. Comments Off on A Library Analytics and Metrics Service? Moving into the next phase of work. Although we’ve been sharing the work of the LAMP project at the UKSG conference, Jisc Digifest, and the SCONUL conference over the last few months, we realise it’s been a few months since we’ve posted on our progress and intended next steps. This has thrown up all sorts of questi...

Toiling on the digital infrastructure…. Currents in Research Information Management. Performance and Measurement in Libraries. In the New York Times, Robert Crease wrote:. We look away from what we are measuring, and why we are measuring, and fixate on the measuring itself. For libraries, so used to collecting, managing and analysing various sets of data and metrics, this is a critical point. It is also a sentiment that kicked off the 10th Northumbria conference on Performance Measurement in Libraries.

Insert witty title here. Random musings about library stuff. Friday, 25 July 2014. ARLIS 2014: The Journey Continues. Two things I did at the conference I didn't write about in the last post because I wanted to give them a fair hearing: the visit to the John Rylands Library. And the break-out sessions I attended. We started here, at the sculpture of Archimedes. Some wag had left a deflated balloon hanging out the corner of his mouth. And here is the John Rylands Library, looking very imposing. Now we get...

Insert witty title here. Random musings about library stuff. Friday, 25 July 2014. ARLIS 2014: Reaching New Peaks. Manchester, by PimlicoBadger. Anyway, though I'm seriously pants at networking, often the best bit about going to conferences is talking to people and making new contacts. I felt like I owed it to the library to try and put us on the radar a bit, so that was one of the aims, to say to people "Hi! It wasn't even as if work was paying for it either! There were so many talks from a wide variety...

What do you really do? | Bethan's information professional blog

https://bethaninfoprof.wordpress.com/2013/09/09/what-do-you-really-do

Bethan's information professional blog. What do you really do? September 9, 2013 in advocacy. I spotted this advert for ‘eCloud experts’, and rather uncharitably thought ‘ha! I’d like to see them explain exactly what they do – without using the word ‘cloud’! But I quickly realised that this was a possibly unfair challenge. Could I explain what my organisation/services do, without using words from our name or straplines? And without resorting to even more esoteric jargon? At the centre of great research.
