We were flipping through the LCBO Food and Drink magazine. Salivating at all of the amazing-looking recipes and claiming that we could never make food like that. Thoughts from my adventures on the pavement and in the kitchen. November 3, 2012. We run for MJ: Detroit half-marathon recap. A few weekends back, I traveled to Detroit for two awesome reasons. One: to run a half-marathon. And two: to visit my beautiful friend Najette and her family. And the most awesome part? We were all running together, in memory of her mother who passed away earlier this year of cancer. Melinda (MJ) was diagnosed with a rare form known as primary peritoneal cancer (PPC). We run for MJ.

Veggie Black Bean Dip. 2 tbsp olive oil. 1 green bell pepper, diced. 1 medium-sized onion, chopped. 1 jalapeno pepper, diced. 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed. 1 large jar salsa (I love President’s Choice White Corn and Black Bean). 1 cups shredded cheddar/mozzarella cheese. Baked Penne with Sausage and Roasted Veggies. Black Bean and Lime Tabouleh. Chana Masala with Spinach. Chicken Broccoli Rice Casserole. Chicken and Pumpkin Curry.

Race of the year, the Tannenbaum 10k. I won’t beat around the bush: I crushed it. Earned a new 10k PB with a time of 53:17. That’s over a minute faster than my previous PB at the Sporting Life 10k in May the race that’s famous for its almost entirely downhill route.
