Joanna Brown: Being Thankful for 2014
http://jobrown1.blogspot.com/2014/10/being-thankful-for-2014.html
Monday, October 13, 2014. Being Thankful for 2014. Back at the end of my season in 2013 when I was looking forward to the start of a new season, I really didn’t picture 2014 going the way that it did. I didn’t think that I would be where I am now. But life is a crazy, crazy thing. And I guess if I could always see my future then life wouldn’t be all that exciting. One thing that I do know is that I have so many things to be thankful for and that I have the best family, friends, and teammates. Contrary to...
Joanna Brown: November 2012
http://jobrown1.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Craig worked tirelessly for days to finish this amazing video for me before Worlds. It is tradition that he puts together a video of the year for athletes that compete in the World Championships. I was extremely happy to see the video and am so thankful that I have a great coach who is willing to put in the time and go the extra mile. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Check out my Athletic Résumé. Joanna Brown: The Phases of Downtime
http://jobrown1.blogspot.com/2014/10/the-phases-of-downtime.html
Wednesday, October 15, 2014. The Phases of Downtime. My apologies for the overabundance of blogs. Hope you enjoy. Written during "Randomly Productive Phase". This Isn’t Actually Happening Phase. I don’t actually need. Downtime. I’m not actually not. Training. You still show up to workouts only to be turned home. Eventually acceptance wins (or the insistence of your coach with the threat that he will add an additional week to your downtime) and you spend a good day or two just moping in disbelief. Usually...

Samantha Klus: Ottawa Triathlon Camp
http://samanthaklus.blogspot.com/2012/07/ottawa-triathlon-camp.html
Wednesday, 25 July 2012. Getting ready to ride! Last week was sooooo crazy. Patrick and I spent Monday-Thursday counselling at a triathlon camp for kids ages 8-14. Who knew so many young kids would be interested in triathlon? We had an amazing group of kids with different experience levels. Many showed up with mountain bikes but some kids even had clips and teeny tiny speed bikes! Our days were packed with games, sessions and last but not least…snack breaks (my favourite)! One of my first races! Ah yes, ...

Thursday, December 6, 2012. A very much delayed New Zealand Race Report and Update. Sorry for the lack of updates over the past couple of months. It has been a whirlwind of midterms, playing a huge game of catch up with school and now preparing for finals. Also if you haven't already seen it here is my wonderful worlds video, made by my amazing coach Craig Taylor. It definitely embodies me as an athlete. If you are feeling down.just watch the video and it will bring a smile :). Action shot on the bike:.

Dominika Jamnicky: May 2013
http://dominikajamnicky.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Personally, I am more motivated to write about my successes and happy times. When my roller coaster of a life dips from a peak high steeply down to a low I am less inclined to share. I know a lot of people would agree and can relate. I had a much better performance in Barbados and had my "Domi" racing qualities back. I felt relaxed and happy to race again. The cherry on top was a second place finish, my first ITU podium finish. Here is a video of the race:. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Dominika Jamnicky: September 2014
http://dominikajamnicky.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 19, 2014. It was an honor competing at my second U23 World Championships last month in Edmonton. Rocking our speedy Nineteen Rogue wetsuits. The race did not go how I had prepared and my performance was sub-par. It was a long fight all the way to the finish line. I had a frustrating experience but none the less a good learning lesson and finished a respectable 16th place. Getting ready for race start. Carving those corners on my Devinci racing machine. Out onto the run. Kirsten Sweetlan...

Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Lessons Learned in Sedona and Dallas. Just though I would make a little update as to what I have been up to for the past month. I have been putting this post off for a while because It didn't go the way I had planned. I guess that's part of being an athlete it's not always an uphill progression. Everyone at some point and I bet more than once reaches a plateau or even a downward slope. Here are some pics from the camp:. Diving into the beautiful pool in Sedona. After our training ...

Monthly Archives: August 2012. August 23, 2012. Up bright and even though our race did not start till 9:45). We stayed in the Siesta Suites, which had a kitchen and allowed us to make our meals rather then spending a bunch of money at restaurants. As usual, our pre-race supper consistended of rice, chicken and lots of vegetables; yum yum yum! Of course, since we didn’t want our food to burn and catch on fire, I made dinner while Sam sat on the couch and watched Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. Thanks to my pare...

Jo Brown, Painter
How do we injure and punish one another, by law? We deprive each other of access to the beauty and bounty of nature. How do we injure one another extrajudicially? By failing to see each other as beautiful, and therefore worthy of respect, honor, and protection. In this failure, we become ourselves less worthy, less just, less beautiful. To view the paintings, photographs and collages, visit the Gallery. Educated in fine arts at Yale, Jo Brown studied sculpture with Erwin Hauer. An heir to Giorgio Morandi.
