Jocelyn's Knitting Blog: September 2006

http://www.jocelynsknitting.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

Recent Stanford grad delves into knitting as she recovers from tonsil surgery. What will come of it? Long Time No Post. But believe me, this has been a busy week. I've gotten a job. I've gotten a car. And as of 15 minutes ago, I have a place to live. That I really wanted to live in. Really really. Wanted to live in. So the three huge areas of my life fell into place in the past week. And just in time for the High Holy Days. I started work this week, and I love it (weird, huh? What Kind of Knitter Are You?

Jocelyn's Knitting Blog: Finishing Up!

http://www.jocelynsknitting.blogspot.com/2006/08/finishing-up.html

Recent Stanford grad delves into knitting as she recovers from tonsil surgery. What will come of it? I made progress on a few things this week. One thing I finished was the dinosaur hat for Nathan. Here you can see it being blocked. I think this can also be a dragon hat. Roar! Here is the pinwheel rug I made the first week I was recovering from my tonsillectomy. You can see I still haven't sewn both ends together (on the right), or tucked in the ends, or, in fact, made either border for this small ci...

jovaliquilts: Challah covers

http://jovaliquilts.blogspot.com/2012/11/challah-covers.html

Friday, November 02, 2012. My daughter got married this summer and when her future mother-in-law invited me to a bridal shower last spring, I wanted to give her something personal but also something she would use. Something homemade, I thought, would be perfect, but nothing so big that it would be awkward for the newlyweds if it didn't suit their taste. I finally decided on challah covers. What are challah covers, you ask? This challah cover says, in Hebrew, shabbat shalom. I knew when I posted about it ...

jovaliquilts: January 2011

http://jovaliquilts.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 21, 2011. I made these potholders a few weeks ago, and am about to make some more. I played around with lots of things - they're the best size for practicing, and you get something useful in the end, too. The one on the right is quilt as you go, and the one on the left was quilted after I pieced the top. They both have different types of bindings and different loops. It's easier to see the loop styles on the back. Monday, January 17, 2011. The letters are now a word, a name! I love using ...

jovaliquilts: October 2012

http://jovaliquilts.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 28, 2012. Rather than playing catch up with this blog, I'll start by posting my two most recent finishes, both of them made following Ricky Tims' Kool Kaleidoscope Quilts. The following one, only about 15" square, was made using the same method. I made fewer divisions in the wedge and was much more adept at planning what I wanted the second time around. I think it looks like a star that wants to be a snowflake. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. The Set of the Sail.

jovaliquilts: Circle of Life

http://jovaliquilts.blogspot.com/2012/02/circle-of-life.html

Monday, February 13, 2012. There is so much exciting stuff going on in the quilting world that I jumped at the chance to join the newly formed Modern Quilt Guild (Central Illinois chapter). Our first challenge was to make a Circle of Geese block and turn it into a finished piece. You can find the free Piece by Number pattern here. I made mine a circle of life (geese, after all, qualify as living! Sorry about the poor lighting in the photo.). Labels: circle of geese. Your Circle of Geese looks great!

jovaliquilts: February 2011

http://jovaliquilts.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 27, 2011. How do you recover from knee surgery? Well, the first few days, you keep your knee elevated - but then you keep your spirits up by quilting! I needed to work on that bright, sunny quilt today because I spent yesterday piecing together blocks I won in a block lotto about 5 years ago. Yuck! Someone will like it - I'm donating it and asking that it be quilted with bright thread and butterfly designs (most of the bigger squares have flowers). That Julie at Floribunda. Many of the c...

jovaliquilts: Elephants!

http://jovaliquilts.blogspot.com/2013/02/elephants.html

Wednesday, February 06, 2013. I love this elephant block! The elephants' trunks join in a snail's trail. It's a tough block to piece, and you can see I didn't do a perfect job. I'll have to fix it a bit, but I absolutely love the design. It finishes at 24" square. I found the pattern here. I have been doing a lot of quilting - went to a really fun retreat and worked on a bunch of stuff. This is the center back to the quilt I showed on the last post, and I'll save the rest for another post.

jovaliquilts: Love and a swap

http://jovaliquilts.blogspot.com/2011/05/love-and-swap.html

Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Love and a swap. I'd been putting off making a block for Julie's White Coat Project. Because I didn't know how to do it. I decided I wanted to make something using selvages since Julie has made quilts with them, but I've never worked with them before. I also wanted to make something with free-pieced letters, but I didn't know what I could do in a small block. Finally, I decided to try Tonya's classic LOVE block. Well, it's how I did it! I participated in an I Spy swap, so much fun!

Allison Manley, an awesome adult skater, has started a skating podcast where she interviews skaters, officials and behind-the-scenes type people. I listened to her first one with Kurt Browning and I really enjoyed it. Check it out! Http:/ web.mac.com/rogueelement/iWeb/Si. After I passed Junior Moves on Jan. 30, I started working on my program for Adult Eastern Sectionals. I had five weeks to put my program together and practice like crazy. While we were there I had some new people follow and comment on me just for adding #agribition2014 to some of my tweets. He was excited and it’s great to see learning go so far outside of the classroom. Nice….put a vet glove on to make it more realistic? By Meghan Trai...
