Monday, February 23, 2009. I'm not gonna lie. coming back home was one of the hardest, most emotional, most confusing times of my life. I was SO sad to leave my friends from YWAM. being away from them is the hardest thing. I was SO sad to leave the environment of community living where everybody you're surrounded with is in love with Jesus and where the people around you constantly push you to grow more and more in who He's called you to be. I was SO sad to leave Hawaii. beautiful Hawaii. Lies, Lies, Lies.

Thursday, January 1, 2009. That's "Happy New Year" in Russian! I've been hearing it non-stop for about a week now. since the people here don't celebrate Christmas (because its a Muslim country) their "Christmas" is really celebrated on New Years. they buy cakes, give each other gifts, and honestly the whole city of Bishkek goes CRAZY with fireworks and alcohol and everything shuts down for a couple days for the whole town to party! The GUYS even thought it was way too much food:) (And they're fattys.).

Its a pretty cold day here in Kyrgyzstan. it snowed a little this morning and then the temperature dropped quite a bit and froze everything. Then after the judging, the assembly turned into something like a talent show of some sort. different little students went up and sang and danced and it was really awesome! It was so incredible! And that we did. It was delicious:) Then we played the White Elephant games. I won a bunch of gummy bears ...

Taken after I basically bawled my eyes out when our team leaders surprised us with the gifts from my parents. :) (read following blog to get details on my Christmas day) :) I look like crap but it was one of the best moments of my life! The team chillin in the girls apartment eating lunch:). Walking around Bishkek and in a nearby neighborhood. :) (pretty grey huh? My beautiful leader, Katie, and I riding on the Marshuka! Some cute Kyrgyz girls at the Greenhouse for Girls Club!
