The instruction get on and play usually works well if informal photos are wanted - even if some of these might look more like play than others. Mika (bottom right) was actually using a Play Station at the time, but the principal is the same.
Dance Gallery - In motion

I am very interested in all forms of dance, and have naturally tried to photograph it . These are four studies which are deliberately blurred to try to convey some sense of motion, which is inevitably lost when freezing such a dynamic art form into a single frame. Two are studies of Kirstie a very classical type of dancer, and the other two are of some of the members of contemporary dance company Ijaad.

On the left are two portraits of flautist Andrew Anson, part of a series taken for a concert programme. The lower one was taken in a light-hearted vain, whereas the top one is more typical of one that would normally be used. The two photos on the right were taken in a studio - experimenting with some more extreme lighting effects to see how dramatic the results would be. Above is a very strong rim lighting, and below a very direct light straight into the subject's face.

Live performance is an area of photography I very much specialise in. I really like the dramatic effects you can get under stage lighting, which combine well with the concentration and emotions on the face of the performers. I first got interested in photography at about the age of 5 helping my father in the darkroom. I've been taking photos ever since. These are a selection of photos taken entirely for my own pleasure not for anyone else's sake. They aren't the sort of shots I've thought about doing professionally, but I suppose if anyone was interested I'd consider it.
