I don’t really get the appeal here, although I suspect there are two socio-cultural elements at play here: 1. Kids peeing in public is an everyday occurrence, and 2. Floating up the Yangtze to our next destination of Chongqing was a great way to experience the changing landscape of China – from our familiar flat landscape of Zhejiang Province to the steep mountainous terrain of Chongqing. The layout of the city is so steep, actually, that bikes are a rarity (and the few that we did see were mountain bikes) – motorcycles and cars rule the road in Chongqing. 32nd floor penthouse view, daytime. Sunday, August 5, 2012. Well, Shalom is now 10 weeks old and I'm finally getting around to posting about her birth story. I guess I've been a little busy, but she's sleeping now so I have time. Disclaimer: this story is about birth, so don't read it if you don't want to know the details. :). I was already fully dilated to 10cm and fully effaced. Crazy! Seth didn't even have time to move the car out of the loading zone, so the nurses had to call security and tell them not to tow the car!

Tuesday, September 13, 2011. RCLB Elder Retreat '11: Julian, CA. A few photos to sum up the Revolution Church Long Beach Elder's retreat over the Labor Day weekend. We (The Haaks and San Nicolas families) had a lot of 'vision-casting' and planning to do for the next year, but we also go to spend a lot of time just enjoying each other's company as we soaked in the sights of Julian, a little mountain community east of San Diego. Julian is 'famous' for it's apples, apple pie, and other apple related products.

Wednesday, September 19, 2012. It's all making sense now. Kim brought down some of Seth's baby photos and it is all making sense now why we have such a chubby, bald baby. I am seeing Seth in her more and more. Check out the resemblance. Once my dad finds my missing baby photos, I will post some comparisons of me. Monday, July 2, 2012. Shalom is 5 weeks old now and getting chubbier by the day! She was 6lb 3oz at birth and she's already 9lb 9oz today!
