Trail Camp, the highest legal camping area along the Mount Whitney Trail at 12,000 feet. He had then descended down into just below Outpost Camp, a little meadow with Lone Pine Creek running through it. The Tuolumne Meadows Ranger Station, we could see the cars going by on Highway 120 in the distance down about a mile away. We did not have lodging reserved for that evening and we were tired anyway, so we just camped in an area that said “Horse Camp.” We set up camp, foraged for firewood, made a fire and feasted before bedding down for the evening.
