Josh’s crash was due to distracted driving. Reaching for a ringing cell phone enabled him to wander across the road and ultimately lose control of the vehicle. Since his crash, we have become more aware of the issues surrounding distracted driving and the dangers for all ages. This cause is now very close to our hearts. Blankets and Care Packages. The micro-fleece blanket is personalized with the words “Josh Field Support Network,” so that it can wrap grieving families in a hug. The care package contains food vouchers for the hospital restaurant, a wash kit, and now the chance to do fingerprint jewellery impressions. It was our own experience of waiting for Josh’s recipients that inspired us to help other families in the same situation. A short video explaining what the care packages are about.

Bereaved Mothers’ Meditation Group. Grieving is a stressful time for all members of the family. We are firm believers in meditation and found that it has helped us with our grief. We hold a group for bereaved mothers on Thursday evenings from 7.30-9pm. On Wednesday June 3, 2009, Josh was involved in a car crash due to distracted driving. He suffered a severe impact to the back of his head. Josh was taken to the London Health Sciences Hospital and we had the call every parent dreads. Josh was 17 years old.
