Saturday, 29 November 2014. If The Hat Fits, Wear It! When the Children and I got our new Winter hats, we were thrilled. I mean who wouldn't want a hat that is an Angry Bird, or a Panda or a Husky? What do you mean the majority of the adult population of the world? Don't you know how warm these hats are? They are like Deer Stalkers, only furry! Everything was going fine, until one person piped up. Gosh Pippa, you're so brave wearing that in public". Then a few hours later, someone else said. Should I hav...

How to deal with strong emotions that whoomph you. May 21, 2014. You know the ones I mean. They’re the emotions that take a firm, mean little pinch on your stomach and twist. They rush into your chest cavity, elbowing and pushing, filling you with that hot, dull ache. They’re the emotions that get under your armour, under your skin. They can be triggered by anything: a word, a thought, an interaction. Out of nowhere. Whoomph. 8216;strong emotions that cloud that mind’. Something confusing and foggy?

Personally though, I think it may be one of the most important, life-changing things a human being can learn how to do. The Neuroscience of Happiness Pt 2, or, ‘Changing your mind’. The Neuroscience of Happiness Pt 2, or, ‘Changing your mind’. February 28, 2014. A week or two back I wrote a blog post explaining why it is we often feel unhappy. Or at least have that vague sense of feeling uneasy and not quite right a lot of the time. And I did it through hard, fact-backed science (and pretty pictures). To sum it up in one sentence: neuroscientific evidence proves our brains are hard-wired to make us feel mentally crappy a lot of the time. Those things we need to do to feel happier?

About This Blog | The Bad Day Blog
http://www.thebaddayblog.com/about-the-bad-day-blog
For a longer introduction to The Bad Day Blog, how it came about and the thinking behind it, you can find my first post about it all here. The Bad Day Blog aims to make your day better, in hundreds of tiny but significant ways. This blog is also going to be about making choices. Sometimes only really, really little ones, but choices all the same. We can accept our bad day for what it is and ourselves for how we’re feeling and then decide what we can best do with it all. 1 That everything is simply an ide...

February 6, 2014. The Bad Day Blog is something I’ve been working on for a little while. It started out as a book I was approached to write, but when the publishers decided to ‘go another way’, I decided to carry on working on it in a new guise, without all the worries of making it into a proper, grown-up book.
