Journalism Jitters: Newspapers Quest For Dollars From Internet Pirates

http://journalismjitters.blogspot.com/2009/08/newspapers-quest-for-dollars-from.html

This is a blog about journalism, the future of newspapers and the media. Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Newspapers Quest For Dollars From Internet Pirates. Can the Associated Press and companies like Attributor help newspapers battle Internet sites that poach their content and help them get some of that Internet revenue for themselves? Newspapers are hoping the answer is yes but not everyone is convinced. Is behind a group called the " Fair Syndication Consortium. But the big question is whether Google and oth...

Journalism Jitters: Teens Love Facebook, Ignore Twitter, TV & Newspapers

http://journalismjitters.blogspot.com/2009/07/teens-love-facebook-ignore-twitter-tv.html

This is a blog about journalism, the future of newspapers and the media. Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Teens Love Facebook, Ignore Twitter, TV and Newspapers. That's the summary from 15-year-old Matthew Robson who wrote a report on teen-age media consumption for Morgan Stanley in a wham-bam take it or leave it kind of voice that makes you believe what he's saying even though it's not based on any reports, cites few statistics and is from a kid who's British. I'm also not shocked that Robson says teens don't re...

Journalism Jitters: Wikipedia Grows Up

http://journalismjitters.blogspot.com/2009/09/wikipedia-grows-up.html

This is a blog about journalism, the future of newspapers and the media. Friday, September 4, 2009. I was happy to see the news recently that Wikipedia would be changing its policies to limit changes on articles about living people. Under the new policy, according to the New York Times. The policy is a huge change for an organization that prided itself on letting anyone be a contributor. But with 60 million Americans visiting Wikipedia every month, it’s a necessary change. I remember watching Stephen Col...

Journalism Jitters: The Seattle Times Turns a Profit

http://journalismjitters.blogspot.com/2009/08/seattle-times-turns-profit.html

This is a blog about journalism, the future of newspapers and the media. Tuesday, August 11, 2009. The Seattle Times Turns a Profit. It’s hard to know what to make of the fact that the Seattle Times, now the only newspaper in Seattle, is beginning to show a profit. The newspaper became the only daily newspaper in time after the Seattle Post-Intelligencer shut down its daily newspaper operations in March, surviving only as a news website devoted primarily to local blogs. The main reason The Times is doing...

Imagine Ink on Paper. Thursday, August 8, 2013. Ive missed your posts! Ive never seen a damselfly before - it kind of reminds me of a dragonfly; I hear they are hard to tell apart. I hope you are having a wonderful summer! August 9, 2013 at 9:16 AM. How encouraging to get your comment! Yes, trying to reboot; figured anything looked better in the meanwhile than what was there. Imagine Ink on Paper: Nick Lowe at the Boulton Center

http://imagineinkonpaper.blogspot.com/2013/08/nick-lowe-at-boulton-center.html

Imagine Ink on Paper. Saturday, August 10, 2013. Nick Lowe at the Boulton Center. Nick Lowe came to the YMCA Boulton Center. In Bay Shore last night, the second stop in his latest tour after opening in Philadelphia. Traveling light, he was, with just the one guitar. I'm not a musician, I don't even play one on TV, but he sounds great to me, especially for a guy who's been singing for five decades now. The only unfamiliar tune he played was from his upcoming Christmas album. Long Island, New York.

Imagine Ink on Paper: Suburban Sunday

http://imagineinkonpaper.blogspot.com/2013/08/suburban-sunday.html

Imagine Ink on Paper. Sunday, August 25, 2013. My sister surprised me with a hula hoop today! Yes, I did want one, as a matter of fact.) I find I need to practice, though. Apparently it's not like riding a bicycle, where it all comes back in sixty seconds. So, you won't be seeing any video of me just yet. Kenny, on the other hand. Ken is a natural-born hooper. Imagine Ink on Paper. Saturday, February 16, 2013. When this happened to me I just called it a "delivery". Saturday, February 2, 2013. Be It Ever So Humble. It's still unfrozen water, and everybody's happy to get some. Had two new visitors to the feeder today, two tufted titmice! Very common at feeders in the northeast, apparently, but the first time I've seen them! Sadly, DH is at work. I'll hope they come back tomorrow morning. In the meantime, I got pictures:. Imagine Ink on Paper. Friday, August 9, 2013. A few days of fun with our awesome nephews in Lake George, a place I haven't been since I was their age. Featuring: singing in the car, circus amazement, sunshine and water slides, spectacular sunsets, mountainous clouds, an exciting windy thunderstorm we. Get caught in (you could actually see the thunder), and a full moon sailing above on Sunday night. The Big Apple Circus was our first stop after pulling in late on Friday afternoon. Imagine Ink on Paper: Brunch For Everybody!

http://imagineinkonpaper.blogspot.com/2014/01/brunch-for-everybody.html

Imagine Ink on Paper. Sunday, January 26, 2014. We weren't the only ones having brunch in Westbury today. The DH spotted this red-tailed hawk from waayy across the parking lot. "Is that a hawk? He said. It was farther away than this when he saw it; what an eye! The bird was pretty wrapped up in his meal, so I was able to get right below it without freaking it out. It took one look to size me up, and dismissed me as unthreatening. (I'm okay with that.). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). As I Was Saying.

Imagine Ink on Paper. Saturday, May 26, 2012. The First Great Googa Mooga. It's a terrible name for a festival. But it was a beautiful day in Prospect Park. Play on the main stage. (No, I've never heard of them either, but they were rather good. And they're opening for Dave Matthews next month, so there! Thanks to our early arrival, there were lots of shady spots to spread to a blanket and establish a base of operations. Grazing in the grass is, in fact, a gas, and we dug it:. My answer will be "Oh,.

Imagine Ink on Paper: As I Was Saying

http://imagineinkonpaper.blogspot.com/2014/01/as-i-was-saying.html

Imagine Ink on Paper. Wednesday, January 1, 2014. As I Was Saying. We closed out 2013 with an outdoor hockey game in Huntington, on what had to be the warmest December day on record. This is our capable young nephew in the center there, defending his team's goal. Victory was theirs. And now it's the New Year! It was a beautiful day for a walk out to the Fire Island. Lighthouse today; I think it was our first since 2011. The Year of the Iceberg. There were no icebergs today, but it was lovely.

Journalism Jargon

Journalists, in the midst of their crazy newsrooms tend to have their own jargon of words. Here, I will define some of this journalistic jargon and apply it to current news stories. Thursday, April 30, 2009. Jump Continue on next page. Jargon of the day: jump. At the bottom of the story on the front page, there will be a little bold line telling you what page the story continues on. This is called the jump line. Jargon of the day: beat. It is their job to cover that story. Tuesday, April 21, 2009. To par...
