Joy in the Journey. Thoughts on theology, mothering, homeschooling - sometimes profound, sometimes humorous - but always seeking Joy in my Journey with Christ. Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Tapestry of Grace, Part One: How it Works for Us. In this long, long homeschooling journey I'm on. . . . 14 years down, another 11 to go. . . .I have seen a lot of curricula come and go. (Mostly Latin. And mostly because . . . . . oh, wait. That's another post. An award-winning homeschool curriculum:. For the initiated, wh...

How to Paint a Laminate Countertop. Or: "The Long-Awaited Blog Post! Thanks to my dear friend Nancy, I have developed something of an - ahem - addiction to painting things. Mostly walls. Sometimes furniture. And now. . . . . . . And the sink is already out. But you get the gist of the nasty 70s green, yes? Fun stuff, that.

Joy in the Journey. Thoughts on theology, mothering, homeschooling - sometimes profound, sometimes humorous - but always seeking Joy in my Journey with Christ. Saturday, February 23, 2013. One of the most popular posts on my blog is an old one. . . a review I wrote of an online homeschool grade book and lesson planning program called Homeschool SkedTrack. My late-night internet wanderings paid off with the discovery of Scholaric. The website that promises "Homeschool Planning Made Easy". 2 Add a course:.

Joy in the Journey. Thoughts on theology, mothering, homeschooling - sometimes profound, sometimes humorous - but always seeking Joy in my Journey with Christ. Saturday, November 24, 2012. Thankful Doesn't Even Touch This One. . . . Starting January 7th, my wonderful, patient, talented husband will be employed. It's been 5 1/2 years since he's been a full-time teacher. Our youngest daughter doesn't even remember a time when Daddy taught school. There's more - so much more - but for now. Praise be to God!

Little Kisses from God: 07/01/2010 - 08/01/2010
http://littlekissesfromgod.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Little Kisses from God. While on this journey, I want to purposefully recognize how God is working in my life, trusting that it will encourage others on the same path. Although we, as humans, tend to think of blessings as positive or good, many times God's blessings are disguised as other than "good" in our eyes. Nevertheless, these blessings I once heard referred to as little kisses from God. Soli Deo Gloria! Saturday, July 31, 2010. Book Review Voices of the True Woman Movement, Chapter 2. To resist or...

Monday, July 15, 2013. Athletics: It's never been easy for me. . There was that moment when I came up over a small hill and I was thinking, "wow, my legs are tight today.". The new route for my first long run in months has me on edge with anticipation. I've run this neighborhood several times, but never turned off on the side streets. And then I see it. A hill that has a steady incline for about five houses and then a sharp incline right at the top. The run (at the end of the other two). That I can't....
La Mejor Vida: My return?
http://rachelgarcia77.blogspot.com/2013/06/my-return.html
Monday, June 10, 2013. Over a period of three days I've had two different people ask me when I planned on "returning" to my blog. But not in the "oh I have four kids and a crazy schedule" complicated. Or the "it's summer and we are never in one place long" complicated. No It's more about the fact that I've truly been at a loss as to what in the world to say. I love writing. I really do. And I keep a journal. Alas, I guess that is the nature of most blogs anyway. We went to Disney. My baby turned 3. My hu...

Finding Joy in the Journey
Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Each year I wish for two gifts. Well, each year since I've had children minus two years, 26 and 34, for which these two gifts seemed totally ridiculous and irrelevant in the grand scheme of life. I've wished for happy, kind, delightful.seemingly perfect children for 24 hours (have you met my kids? Yes, I know, it's impossible and I'm only setting myself up for disappointment but a girl can dream, right? Joy far beyond what any cleaning fairies could bring. =). Sometimes they ju...

But for this contribution to the conversation, I want to take a moment to honor three things my sister does for me today as an adult that are extraordinarily relevant to the topic and that offer sage insights into what culturally competent parenting looks like. 1 She's Able To Use "White Privilege" In A Sentence Without Freaking Out. joy in the journey
Joy in the journey. Thursday, June 26, 2014. In that moment a dozen different thoughts ran through my mind: What if it's a boy? I don't know how to raise boys. What if the baby has downs? I can't possibly deliver a healthy baby at my age. What will the girls think? We have no maternity insurance! I'm going to be sick. We're too old for this! We had used the same birth control for over 13 years, why now? Unfortunately, the anxiety and panic attacks continued. It was a new and horrifying twist for me&#...

Joy in the Journey
Monday, February 24, 2014. Reed and Max and I went and saw the Saratov approach. I wonder how many parents and missionaries that has scared. It was a well done movie though. Today is Monday which means laundry, menu planning, new chore charts, early out day, followed by Emily's singing and then guitar lessons. It also means another week has gone by without me setting up music lessons for Hadley.time to get on that. Thursday, February 20, 2014. A Little Valentine Celebrating.
