Single A Hockey: The Enigma that is Utica
http://singleahockey.blogspot.com/2007/06/enigma-that-is-utica.html
A' new level of hockey. A blog about the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League and other Single A prospects. Wednesday, June 6, 2007. The Enigma that is Utica. Utica is a puzzler. The city has had many incarnations of minor league hockey. From the AA ACHL and UHL, to the AAA AHL. But the market has always been just a step behind in financial support. The real question is, will people show up for the single A product? If 2,500-3,000 people could show up to the 4,000 seat Utica Memorial Auditorium. 1 Major - NHL.

A' new level of hockey. A blog about the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League and other Single A prospects. Wednesday, June 6, 2007. Danbury , CT - Out of the way, desperate to play. The fans of Danbury are desperate for pro hockey to return after the demise of the UHL Trashers. To top it off, the 3005 seat Danbury Ice Arena. Has been reported as an exceptional place to watch a hockey game. There are two problems though. First, can a new ownership group be found to take a risk in a media tainted market? 2 AAA - AHL.

Wednesday, April 9, 2008. On the Road Again. I am writing to you from somewhere on the Ohio turnpike (I think we are near Sandusky) on our way up to the great city of Alpena, Michigan. Movie number one is in the books, and we still have about seven hours left to go. Back on the road again for the first time in about a month – hopefully it’s a short trip. Alpena has a great home crowd and they will be out in full-force. I wouldn’t be surprised to see that arena sold out. It will be hostile, ...The Phantom...

Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Sweep Brings Renewed Confidence. I’m not sure what triggered it, whether it was just a matter of the team finally converting their chances, or it was the fact that they were finally concentrating on the details which in turn resulted in a scoring explosion; but those wins couldn’t have come at a more critical time. Great to see Graham putting points on the board again. Graham is such a great two-way player, it has to be encouraging to everyone on the team to see him finally ...

Wednesday, March 19, 2008. A great weekend against Traverse City would be an understatement. It was more than the wins, it was more than clinching the second spot in the division, it was more than the fights… it was a ‘championship mentality’ that the team showed that was the most impressive aspect of the weekend. The team also wasn’t afraid to mix it up. With all the fighting majors, the roughing minors, the trash talking, and chippiness that you could see and hear, not to mention the line bra...With th...

Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Showdowns Loom - Part II. Obviously, the overall result of the weekend was somewhat disappointing. A shootout win and a loss against the last place team in the division. Those are the facts… they are undisputed. But looking deeper into the games, this is what we find:. Finally, a third defensive breakdown led to an even-strength, 2-on-0 down low, that resulted in Kory Kaunisto’s game-tying goal with just 25 seconds left. Give credit to the Phantoms for seeing thing...While S...
