Methacton Electric Car Club. Educating the public, one car at a time. In 2012, we acquired a 1950’s box truck (formerly used to sell snacks) that we converted to run on 100% vegetable oil. Our current project is to make it run on vegetable oil; we are installing a system that will clean restaurant’s waste vegetable oil and feed it into the truck’s tank. The Methacton Electric Car Club competes at a three day competition at the Hydrogen Energy Research Center at Penn State University. Dr. Joel Anstrom, one of the research directors, runs the event called the “21st Century Automotive Challenge”.
