Juniper Hill: Thinking Outside The Boxwood

http://www.juniperhillfarmnh.com/2014/01/thinking-outside-boxwood.html

Friday, January 31, 2014. Thinking Outside The Boxwood. At the beginning of every winter you can find me dragging heavy wooden teepees out of the barn to protect my most vulnerable plants. It's a winter garden chore I look forward to about as much as I do the return of the black flies in the spring. Photo by John McCormick. I decided it was worth a try. So, here's what I did. Have some on their truck when they show up at your house, which they almost never do. If you have a lot of plants to do, you c...

Juniper Hill: So Long, November

http://www.juniperhillfarmnh.com/2014/12/so-long-november.html

Tuesday, December 2, 2014. So Long, November. I'm prepared to argue that November is filled with color, although it's true that it helps if you have an affinity for earth tones. Long gone are the bright pink and purple flowers of the garden. But, if bright color is your thing, November still has plenty to offer. Where the Weeds and Wild Things Are. Plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. Ken Kesey. I am a horticulturist and knitter and writer, and many other things besides. September 20, 2016. It has been a long hot, occasionally horrible summer. It is September now, and I just want it to be over. And of course it’s not. Home in New England: March 2015

http://homeinnewengland.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

A photo journey from a small New England town. Saturday, March 21, 2015. To welcome in Spring, even though it doesn’t even feel like SPRING! My daughter and I decided to do a little Spring craft today. So we tried it. We took the skins of about 10 onions ( a mix of yellow and red.) and brought them them to a boil in a large pot. Then my daughter poked a hole in each egg and did that FUN job of blowing all the yoke out of each egg. They went into the pot ( on simmer )with the skins for about a 1/2 hour.

A photo journey from a small New England town. Tuesday, November 11, 2014. I’m really looking forward to the holiday season! In just a few short weeks we’ll be going to cut our tree down. I can’t believe it’s almost that time! There’s something about the smell of Christmas cookies baking in the oven, mulled cider simmering on the woodstove and Christmas carols, I LOVE CHRISTMAS CAROLS! Let Every Day Be Christmas. Christmas is forever, not for just one day,. For loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away.
