Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Castiglie earns All-Rookie honors. A few weeks ago I wrote about Longwood graduate Ali Castiglie, who was in the midst of a terrific freshman year at Binghamton University in lacrosse. Well, it came out a few days ago that she was named to the 2008 America East All-Rookie Team. She made it along with teammate Lisa Illig. Monday, July 7, 2008. Mount Sinai grad nominated for ESPY. Mount Sinai graduate Philip Scholz is one of four finalists for the ESPY award "Best Male Athlete with a Disability." Scholz, who swims at Loyola, will represent America in Beijing at the 2008 Paralympic Games. At the Paralympic Trials in April Scholz won four gold. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Smit sets American record. Julia Smit won the 200 IM Tuesday night at the National Championship in Indianapolis in American record time. It was the fastest time in the world this year. The previous record was set by Katie Hoff at last year's Olympic Trials. Smit will compete in Rome at the World Championships at the end of the month.
