The Speckled Emperor and My Adventures at the Fish Market. We had been here once before to check out the scene and purchase some veggies (they have a small produce stand/section in front of the store), but this day I ventured out myself, completely forgetting my Japanese/English dictionary. Google translate doesn't always cut it. I arrived as soon as it opened (10:30am) and was greeted with fish monger smiles and lots of "Irasshiaimase's! Nervous looks all around*. Blood and guts and fish gore everywhere!

I'm going to try to make some type of bread once a week, and so far I've made it two weeks in a row. Hopefully I'll keep this habit up, because so far it has been delicious. Adapted from Kim Boyce's Good to the Grain. 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (or one packet). 3 tbsp unsulphured molasses. 2 1/2 cups whole-wheat flour. 2 cups bread flour. 1 cup rolled oats. 4 tbsp butter, melted and cooled.

Mostly running back and forth between two jobs, while somehow finding the time to successfully complete two semesters of graduate school. Things are less busy now.
