For New Media in the democratic society. Crowdsourcing Average citizens making a big impactt. A 2012 crowdsourcing project in the UK called Click to Cure asked the public to help cancer researchers analyze two million images of breast cancer cells. The goal of this project is to figure out how different cancer cells respond to different treatments so cancer patients’ information can be more personalized in the future. The public’s job is to match up cell images. This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

New Media and a Democratic Society. The article that I chose this week was found on Yahoo News on this Saturday called BatKid – A Good Deed Gone Viral. November 18, 2013. 7 Comments to “Viral Online Media”. November 20, 2013 at 5:44 pm. I was actually following the Batkid story as it happened. It was incredibly touching to see how entire city (and nation really) came together on one day to make a child’s day so special. It almost makes for a pretty good crowd sourcing case as well. I’d recommend th...

UGC and Participation | New Media and a Democratic Society
https://yfwbunny.wordpress.com/2013/10/21/ugc-and-participation
New Media and a Democratic Society. October 21, 2013. Both of this weeks’ articles are talking about the concept of UGC and participation but in different ways. I actually found Jönsson and Örnebring’s concept of participation ...

161;La Vida Es Sueño! Monday, March 4, 2013. It's official. Spring is my all-time favorite season. Don't get me wrong, I love the summer with no school, and Christmas is merry, and leaves turn all pretty in the fall, but there's nothing quite so good as springtime. And it's coming!
