Please Support Me in the MS 150 Ride to Eradicate Multiple Sclerosis. I recently joined the Big Poppi Pedalers cycling team in Manhattan, to ride in the MS 150 in Topeka at the end of September. The MS 150 is a two-day, 150-mile ride to raise awareness for multiple sclerosis, and to raise money for the National MS Society. So anyway, Jared, this one's for you dude. Anyone who would like to contribute to this cause and support me. An Ode to the Smoky Hill. Area at Kanopolis State Park, and I ran across th...

The Economics of Freedom and Weight Loss - Prairie Biker

The Economics of Freedom and Weight Loss. As I mentioned in my first post, I have lost 45 to 50 pounds in the past year and half. It's been hard work, and I consider it a big accomplishment. Yet while I don't mind writing about it, I cringe when people start asking questions, because the discussions almost always take an uncomfortable turn. Between the deer-in-the-headlights stares, the gasps of disbelief, the "are you sick? There's a Wendy's and a McDonald's on every corner. Well-funded marketing ef...

Caribbean Insights - Prairie Biker
http://www.prairiebiker.org/blog/caribbean-insights
Over the New Year's holiday, Trisha's grandma Joyce was gracious enough to take her entire family on a 7-day cruise to the Caribbean, and I was lucky enough to get to tag along. (Thanks Joyce :-) It was a VERY cool- and in many ways, awe-inspiring- week. Anyway, I felt compelled to put together a list of my top 10 insights, observations, and pieces of advice for traveling in the Caribbean. On a cruise ship, bikinis and speedos are appropriate for anyone under age 80, who weighs less than 300 pounds.

MadAsHellLiberal: Financial Reform Should Start With Foundation
http://madashellliberal.blogspot.com/2010/04/paul-krugman-addresses-problem-with.html
Monday, April 26, 2010. Financial Reform Should Start With Foundation. Paul Krugman addresses the problem with the financial "reform" in this oped:. Http:/ www.nytimes.com/2010/04/26/opinion/26krugman.html? Credit rating agencies started out as a way to help lenders rate the risk of lending to certain companies, funds or capitalize large business deals. They have become a tool to push through bad business deals. Wouldn't it make more sense for each of US to decide whether we need credit cards or no?

Wednesday, December 30, 2009. RIPPING APART THE RATIONALIZATIONS FOR PASSING THE CURRENT HEALTH ‘CARE’ BILL INTO LAW. An unsigned editorial in today’s NY Times set about to list the reasons why we should pass health care reform legislation. Below, I refute their points, one-by-one. THE HEALTH OF MILLIONS OF AMERICANS. The fact that 46 million people in this country have no health insurance should be intolerable. The 2009 Poverty Guidelines for the 48 Contiguous States and the District of Columbia*. Feder...

Wednesday, January 12, 2011. A List of the Propaganda Techniques Used by Sarah Palin. A list of the propaganda techniques used by Sarah Palin in her attempt to shift blame from herself and other propagandists who have used hate speech and propaganda techniques to whip up anger against liberals, progressives and anyone who doesn’t agree with their Neanderthal, theocratic, regressive political ideas. The "'plain folks'" or "common man" approach attempts to convince the audience that the propagandist's posi...

MadAsHellLiberal: February 2010
http://madashellliberal.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 19, 2010. Read This With An Open Mind. How many people really have an open mind nowadays? If you read the following with an open mind, you might also be surprised to find yourself agreeing with much of it. To CLARIFY: I am in no way, shape or form, supporting or condoning the actions that this individual took in protest. But upon reading his "manifesto" I found myself agreeing with some of what he was saying. While very few working people would say they haven’t had their fair share...

Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Malkin Thinks the Holocaust is a Game. First They Came for the Catholics. Michelle Malkin must have thought she was being very cute when she titled her column this way. Or maybe this is a pathetic bid for attention from someone who doesn’t really have anything intelligent to say. I will confess now that I barely skimmed the article that followed this title because I have long since foresworn exposing my mind to her tripe. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I AGREE 100% WITH EVERYTHING THAT IS SAID HERE AND COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSELF. THUS, THE REPRINT. PLEASE PASS THIS AROUND. Don't you think it's time we started DEMANDING what we the people. Want, instead of meekly and mutely rolling over while corporate. Special interests have their way with us? The only thing that would. If not now, when?

MadAsHellLiberal: June 2010

Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Money is protected speech when it is lobbyist money paid to politicians in order to procure passage of certain laws and regulations that will benefit corporations, but not protected speech when it goes to certain organizations that have been labeled “terroristic” by the government. Really? Just who are the terrorists here? And what does it take to make the government’s terrorist list? And is there any recourse for groups that are falsely or erroneously labeled terrorists? Chubby&#...
