A blog about the 2011 season of KRP. Friday, July 1, 2011. I will continue the blog as best I can from Amman and later from home. Here are a few pictures from this week. Here we see Tim Snow the photographer on the left in Field D with a human sun shield for the photos.. In field D Thomas, one of out team members from Germany is excavating. There can be dangerous things hiding in the squares and under rocks. Here is scorpion found in Field D. I will try to send another entry as soon as I can.

The team took a well deserved day off from excavation which include a field trip to the Dead Sea and the site of Bab ed-dhra. As the time head down the valley they dropped in elevation from about 1400 feet above sea level to 1400 feet below sea level. The team also visited the train station at Qatrana Railway Station. This is a part of the Hejaz route (that is the train that would take pilgrims to Mecca.) The next few days will be spent making sure that all final photographs and drawing is finished. Also any last minute details and some back filling of squares.
