http://judithpainter49.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 26, 2015. It was a very quick study - but fun to do. It reminded me (again) of how important it is to let go of the details and simply PAINT! Judith Freeman Clark: Kitchen Sunshine II
http://judithpainter49.blogspot.com/2016/03/kitchen-sunshine-ii.html
Sunday, March 20, 2016. Sometimes things don't turn out as you hoped they would. In completing my painting, "Kitchen Sunshine," I ran into several problems - one of which just about derailed the whole project. But having spent a lot of hours on the details, I was determined to offer it as a finished work, albeit with a few changes I hadn't planned on. This diminished the punchier impact of the warm-toned fruit. It also downplayed a strong contrast between the stripes and the white ground of the towel.

Judith Freeman Clark: December 2013
http://judithpainter49.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 20, 2013. Earlier this week, I completed this iris painting - "Royal Purple II" - using a photo I'd taken several years ago in my backyard garden. I've painted this subject before, but never was satisfied with the outcome. Here are a few photographs I took during a two-day watercolor workshop offered here in Worcester MA and organized through the painting studio of Jo Ellen Reinhardt. Always mix PLENTY of color! Our workshop instructor each day was Robert J. O'Brien.

Judith Freeman Clark: July 2016
http://judithpainter49.blogspot.com/2016_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 23, 2016. Thumbnails and plein air paintings. During the past week, I've tried to loosen up (again) by painting outdoors. Not my favorite setting for doing watercolors, but it is a great way to become better at sketching quickly and learning the best way to capture a scene's contrast re sunlight and shadow. Here is the thumbnail, followed by the finished watercolor sketch. Tower Hill Botanic Garden #1. 5" x 8" unframed. We have some hosta plants mixed in with some of the other greens, all ...

Judith Freeman Clark: En plein air
http://judithpainter49.blogspot.com/2015/06/en-plein-air-i.html
Thursday, June 11, 2015. Yesterday afternoon I took my easel into the back yard. I almost never do this. in the past, it's been a less-than satisfactory experience. There's always too much sun, too much wind, too much uneven ground, etc. etc. etc. However - since I've enrolled in a three-day July workshop with Tony van Hasselt, which will include daily excursions to paint en plein air. I'm determined to conquer my aversion to working anywhere but indoors. Great, naturally occuring set-up for my plein air.

Judith Freeman Clark: "Snow Path" -- a work-in-progress
http://judithpainter49.blogspot.com/2015/11/snowy-lane-work-in-progress.html
Sunday, November 22, 2015. Snow Path" - a work-in-progress. A few years ago I completed this woodland snow scene, which now hangs over the fireplace in my sister and brother-in-law's home on Cape Cod. I've wanted to paint another view of this snowy road through a snow-drifted forest, but haven't attempted it until now. A huge fan of cold weather, I admit that snow can be picturesque. especially around the holidays. Value sketch for "Snowy Lane". To paint the snow I used a mix of Winsor violet (dioxazine ...

Art Pearls: Marguerites and Cherries
http://artpearls.blogspot.com/2014/10/marguerites-and-cherries.html
Tuesday, October 7, 2014. 9 by 12 -inch on 140 lbs. Kilimanjaro. This still life is painted after challenge no.76 from my favorite painting challenge blog, A nos pinceaux. I was so captured by the luscious, red cherries but was a bit intimidated of painting so many of them. I also wanted to capture the delicate white petals of the marguerites. Eventually, the desire to paint the still life overcame my hesitation. So here it is! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Anthony Billings Art: Santa Fe - watercolor
http://anthonybillingsart.blogspot.com/2015/07/santa-fe-watercolor.html
The way I see things in watercolor, gouache, charcoal, ink, graphite, pastels and a few pixels. Friday, July 24, 2015. Santa Fe - watercolor. Available, 7.5"x11". Is in Santa Fe this month. I had a lot going on and just barely had time to do one this month. There's a lot right about this one. The dry brush on the road and the reflections in the windshields are just right. The figures are all good except for the center figure's feet. I should have just left them out completely. View my complete profile.
