Green Dreaming: How to let your neighbours know you're a greenie?
http://green-dreaming.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-to-let-your-neighbours-know-youre.html
Thursday, July 12, 2012. How to let your neighbours know you're a greenie? Over the last 12 months there has been a lot of talk about no-dig gardens. What trips me up is the need to source all the materials to make a no-dig garden. No-dig gardens just seem to have so many ingredients, when you can just call up a compost or landscaping place and they will dump a whole bunch of 'soil' at your front door. Convenience strikes again! Anyway, I will continue with my bin choice, but I have moved it and. With th...

Green Dreaming: November 2012

Tuesday, November 13, 2012. What will the coastline look like in the future? Many highly populated areas are now directly adjacent to the coastline or in very close proximity to the coast. This is lovely for those that get to live with lovely views of the ocean or live there because of proximity to trade routes or similar. I feel so pessimistic about this. My professional world is immersed in this reality based economic development sector and I can't see the broader community supporting the retreat o...

Green Dreaming: Turmeric
http://green-dreaming.blogspot.com/2012/07/turmeric.html
Saturday, July 21, 2012. My next question to my friend was, what do I do with it? Then, how does it grow and what special things do I need to do to keep it alive? The answers were, it's simple, put it in the ground and watch it grow, you harvest it once the plant dies back next winter. Well, that doesn't sound very hard! Here are a couple of in progress photos. I think I got about 1.5kgs of tubers from the two small nodes that I planted last year. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Posts direct to you.

Green Dreaming: Salesman's worse nightmare
http://green-dreaming.blogspot.com/2012/11/salemans-worse-nightmare.html
Sunday, November 11, 2012. I am in the market for a new fridge/freezer and a chest freezer. We have had the main house fridge/freezer for about 10 years and it is still kicking along quite nicely with the exception of the seal but with the improvements in technology I see a lot of merit in upgrading our refrigeration situation. So after some research on the government's efficient efficiency appliance website. But nevertheless, the stores that I have been to so far either:. Showed me products that weren't...

Green Dreaming: August 2011
http://green-dreaming.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Sure it comes down to personal choice and what you find meets your criteria for an 'environmentally appropriate' product. But there are many products that are blatantly using green branding to highlight themselves without actually making a difference. And in some cases these green branded products are more environmentally detrimental than the 'standard' products. Be wary! WELS rating (water efficiency). So, if you are planning on investing some of your hard-earned money into n...

Green Dreaming: March 2012
http://green-dreaming.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 31, 2012. Have you outsourced your environmental impact? In line with this, when you create a vegetable patch, no matter what style or type, there are a significant number of imposts on your household budget, particularly during the establishment phase, but these do carry on through to the maintenance phase. Anyway, long story, not so short, it made me think! The answer, I'm afraid, is soooooo many! Source: http:/ pervasiveshopping.wordpress.com/. Many people in our society do not believe...

Thursday, July 19, 2012. Climate Science and Environment should be in the Queensland education system. According to the change.org website, the LNP has passed a motion in the Queensland Parliament to remove 'environmental education' and 'climate science' from the Queensland education system. Green Dreaming: May 2012

Thursday, May 31, 2012. Solar hot water system.bit of boosting! Late last year we installed an evacuated tube solar hot water system. I have found the system we installed awesome to date! Site-specific features of our system include:. Having the system mounted on a north-facing rack. This ensures the system works to its maximum potential, particularly during the winter months. Having my booster attached to an overnight tariff. Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Another cool book club. Lists the books to be discussed...
