My adventures with food and wine and everything wonderful in between. Tuesday, January 25, 2011. With a Wine Dinner to Boot! I am finally back to the world of blogging. I know it's been forever, and you'll have to excuse me for that. A little thing called a PhD program has gotten in the way. But who needs to spend more of their life studying when there is perfectly good blogging to be done? That's my attitude at this moment, anyway. On sale Christmas ornaments that are still good for winter! I'm a wife a...

My adventures with food and wine and everything wonderful in between. Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Cheap Wine of the Week Wednesday. Here's our cheap wine of the week this week! We enjoyed this with some friends who made us delicious chicken and pork tacos. Yummy! I brought a straight cabernet and this cabernet/syrah blend because both would have a little spice to pair with the tacos. And both were good with it, but this one was better. Both Brad and I really liked it. Links to this post. This, a cup of...

My adventures with food and wine and everything wonderful in between. Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Cheap Wine of the Week Roundup. The first one is actually a rose. And I think it's the first rose I've mentioned on this blog. So, it must be good, and you should pay attention. This is the 2009 Domaine du Vieux Chene,Vin de Pays de Vaucluse, Cuvee Friande. My adventures with food and wine and everything wonderful in between. Monday, January 31, 2011. The Best Margaritas in the World. If you like margaritas and their limey goodness, please do yourself a favor and try these. And try not to be horrified by the extreme ratios as far as the seemingly large amount of tequila involved in these, but do drink them in moderation. The taste is exquisite, and can be enjoyed in small sips :). Close-up of the real lime bits of goodness. 1/2 c orange liqueur. Ok, so real...

Along with every other person in Chicago, I have decided to release my own personal pictures of the blizzard that has hit us here. It started blowing snow yesterday and today shows no signs of letting up. And yes, there was actually thundersnow last night. As in a thunderstorm while it was snowing. It was crazy, let me tell you. There's my little snow covered bumblebee. There,...

My AZ/CA blood is doing surprisingly well, but I'm getting a little sick of this winter thing, and hoping it goes away soon. The soup itself, with all its yummy bits of chicken and onion and tomato. If only there had been leftovers. 2 T olive oil.

My adventures with food and wine and everything wonderful in between. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Recipe of the Moment - Roasted Goat Cheese Caprese. So this was a necessity-is-the-mother-of-invention meal. I have a bunch of leftover goat cheese from those crostinis. And I have a bunch of delicious tomatoes that need eating before they go bad. Oh, and also some leftover basil. So what do I do with them all? Make a caprese of sorts, roast it till gooey and yummy, and watch Blade Runner with Brad. They are r...
