Isobel's journey from frustration to freedom. Saturday, 5 October 2013. A Year (and a bit) of Bionic Hearing. So, It has been a whole year (and a bit) now since Isobel had her implant and was switched on! What a difference it has made to our lives. We were told today by her therapist that she has almost completed all of her auditory. Goals That means that she has almost finished 'learning to listen' and will be 'listening to learn'. Amazing! This doesn't mean that's the end of AVT, not by a long shot!

Isobel's journey from frustration to freedom. This is a really good example for explaining the hearing levels of every day sounds. In the middle of the audiogram there is a part called the “Speech Banana.” Most of the sounds of speech fall into that range of pitches and loudness. Our goal for Isobel is for her to be able to hear in or above the Speech Banana with her hearing aid and cochlear implant, that way giving her access to the sounds of speech. You gotta b'lieve Hon, or not! On 8:58 AM in AB. We had over 30 people at the Neptune seminar in Rockville. I was able to see children that already got their bilateral Neptunes! I love the fact you can clip your processor anywhere! I did a demonstration to a few people how I would wear my Neptune if I had one! I also got to meet a candidate that was interested in AB's implants. He happens to work across the street from my building! Hopefully soon we will meet and have lunch! Do I want the Neptune?

Wednesday, March 3, 2010. As you know, Rafael and his family went to Peru in January. I think they had a great time. Here is Raf at Machu. Can you believe there are llamas walking around? I was so surprised! They visited lots of family members including Rafael's Great Aunt Victoria and a sweet little one. :). Rafael brought back beautiful decorations and lots of delicious food including tamales made by Aunt Victoria! They were super delicious. I couldn't believe I got to eat homemade food from Peru!
