The Curious Kansas Quilter: February 2015
http://thecuriouskansasquilter.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
The Curious Kansas Quilter. Saturday, February 28, 2015. Yep - Forest Quilt Along. Facebook can be dangerous - we all know that. It's especially dangerous for someone like me who is addicted to Block of the Month quilts. I follow several groups on FB - one of them is "For the love of paper piecing". That's me! I love paper piecing - foundation piecing to be more descriptive and to differential this technique from English Paper Piecing (which I also love and for which there is also a FB group). I'm writin...

The Curious Kansas Quilter. Monday, July 13, 2015. Sisters - Shopping, Classes, and Quilts Galore: The Ultimate Quilting Experience. I am still in overwhelm mode. It was AWESOME! I just got back from 10 days of everything quilt related in Sisters Oregon - the 40th Anniversary of the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. I flew into Seattle and BFF Bobbie and I packed up her car (full! Our condo was at Eagle Crest Resort. The piece de resistance of the week was the outdoor quilt show on Saturday. The town of Si...

The Curious Kansas Quilter: What Do You Do When You Get Stuck?
http://thecuriouskansasquilter.blogspot.com/2015/06/what-do-you-do-when-you-get-stuck.html
The Curious Kansas Quilter. Wednesday, June 3, 2015. What Do You Do When You Get Stuck? I'm feeling stuck - paralyzed. I go down to my sewing room and scores of projects call to me, but I just don't feel like working on any of them. I don't really even feel like starting a new one. Maybe I'm sick or depressed. Or maybe I need a break. Or maybe I need a nudge. I could also tidy up some. I've been working on a very detailed applique pattern and I have scraps of fabric and bits of fusible all over every...

The Curious Kansas Quilter: Quilting Habits
http://thecuriouskansasquilter.blogspot.com/2015/04/quilting-habits.html
The Curious Kansas Quilter. Thursday, April 30, 2015. Well, the Kaw Valley Quilt Show is over and I feel I can take a few deep breaths and figure out what to do now. It almost feels like one of those dates like New Years, Birthdays, First Day of Spring - you know, those days when you think about resolutions and new habits. I have started reading a book Better Than Before. So here is my list of Starts and Stops. Most of them are obvious to quilters. Start . . . Prepping for next session. Kaw Valley Blog (...

The Curious Kansas Quilter: April 2014
http://thecuriouskansasquilter.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
The Curious Kansas Quilter. Friday, April 11, 2014. The Ultimate Learning Quilt - Stitcher's Garden #1. I am about to put the binding on the largest quilt I've ever made - 90x100 inches! Not only is it large in size, it's also large in learning. Stitcher's Garden is a block of the month quilt I teach at Mea Bernina. I've been working on this sample for over a year and I thought it might be interesting to write about everything I've learning while making this monster quilt. And OESD's Fuse and Fix. My...

The Curious Kansas Quilter. Amy's Quilt - Chocolate is a Girl's Best Friend. I intended to have it finished for her Freshman year at Northeastern, but she will get it for. Her Sophomore year - only a one-year delay! The chocolate and other fabrics were purchased in the Seattle area and my good friend Bobbie embroidered the chocolate motifs. Chocolate was machine quilted by Kathi Eubank of Hard Candy Quilts. August 22, 2015 at 3:45 AM. Especially the Jewel Squares in blues; you are such an inspiration!

The Curious Kansas Quilter: It's Almost Time for the Quilt Show!
http://thecuriouskansasquilter.blogspot.com/2015/04/its-almost-time-for-quilt-show.html
The Curious Kansas Quilter. Monday, April 13, 2015. It's Almost Time for the Quilt Show! Four months sure went by fast! The Kaw Valley Quilters' Guild Annual Quilt Show. Is this Saturday and Sunday and I'm almost ready. I have the privilege to be this year's featured quilter. Over the last several months I have felt excited, scared, overwhelmed, frustrated, ready, not ready and absolutely exhausted. Tonight I am excited and exhausted. I plan on showing the more everyday, human side of quilting - the earl...

The Curious Kansas Quilter: Foundation Paper Piecing - An Enchanted Forest by Janeen Van Niekerk
http://thecuriouskansasquilter.blogspot.com/2015/05/foundation-paper-piecing-enchanted.html
The Curious Kansas Quilter. Saturday, May 2, 2015. Foundation Paper Piecing - An Enchanted Forest by Janeen Van Niekerk. I love foundation paper piecing! The best way (IMHO) to get accurate points and seams especially when working with small pieces. I do foundation piecing almost exactly the way Karen (from the video) does with a few exceptions. Instead of pinning I use either a dab of glue stick or a piece of blue painters' tape. A BOM from Sarah Vedeler, and Enchanted Forest, a BOW by Janeen Van Niekerk.
