The Quilted Philosopher: December 2008
http://thequiltedphilosopher.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Musings on and photographs of quilting and quilts and how it all fits in to the big picture. December 6, 2008. Waiting . . . Well, my challenge this week was to centre the back of the yellow quilt on the top. How to go about doing so? About somehow pinning one corner of the hands panel to the place on the top where I thought it should go to be centred, then pin the other corners and adjust. Where would I lay it out to do this, though? Yes, I am a last minute person. Keep your foot on the dogs! Oh well...

I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way – things I had no words for. – Georgia O'Keeffe. March 11, 2015. I continue to experiment with {slightly} different formats in my creative planner/journal. I began March in the usual layout and was quite pleased with the results. I have also decided to go back to creating weekly cards which incorporate a word of the week (this one from Teresa’s Right Brain Planning. We’ll see…stay tuned. How do you plan? This is so inspiri...

The Quilted Philosopher
http://thequiltedphilosopher.blogspot.com/2009/01/gosh-time-goes-by-so-quicky.html
Musings on and photographs of quilting and quilts and how it all fits in to the big picture. January 12, 2009. Gosh, time goes by so quicky. I keep making a promise to myself to post here once a week at the very least, and yet life seems to always get in the way. After my last post the store called me back to say that the walking foot would cost $150. Yeowch! I found some wonderful vintage cottons at a yard sale in New York somewhere. From one peachy floral piece, I hand sewed my daughter two skirts ...

The Quilted Philosopher: The Back
http://thequiltedphilosopher.blogspot.com/2008/12/back.html
Musings on and photographs of quilting and quilts and how it all fits in to the big picture. December 1, 2008. Well, here it is, the back. It turned out nicely, I think. Oh well. It doesn't look too bad. I'm back to work today but will try to get the top, batting, and backing pinned together this week. Maybe I'll even start quilting! An update on my mum's quilt. On top of the tacking down I want to put a ribbon. Bow and to that end I went to Mokuba. I tried this white and gold ribbon. A patient, thoughtf...

The Quilted Philosopher
http://thequiltedphilosopher.blogspot.com/2008/11/hello-my-friends-yes-i-took-handmade.html
Musings on and photographs of quilting and quilts and how it all fits in to the big picture. November 19, 2008. Yes, I took the handmade pledge: this year I will give only handmade things as gifts - except for books, cds. All of which play a major part in my gift-giving. And speaking of which, I finished the top for my daughter's quilt! What do you all do? Do you iron every seam before proceeding. So, here is the top:. The dark fabric in this block is black, purple and white and was also in my mum's stash.

Musings on and photographs of quilting and quilts and how it all fits in to the big picture. May 31, 2008. Helllooooo . . . Sometimes I just need a long break from things, in this case, blogging. Also in the boxes of found fabric were several small pieces of silk and I used two of those to make the body and wings of the dragonfly. I used beads to fill out his body and the same metallic thread to outline the wings. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A patient, thoughtful, analytical person is...

Musings on and photographs of quilting and quilts and how it all fits in to the big picture. September 23, 2008. Well, here it is: my first block based on Canadian themes. I call this the Tipi. Block, which is, of course, a Native Canadian thing. It is similar to the kaleidoscope. Block The colouring is grass yellow or grass/tree green for the background and almost any colour for the tipi. Itself. The corner at the top of the tipi. In fours I call it Circle of Tipis. This is the Circle of Tipis. Sew Craz...

Musings on and photographs of quilting and quilts and how it all fits in to the big picture. July 4, 2008. Here at what I found at a used clothing store! Nothing to identify her as a particular goddess or queen. The man is holding both his bow and shield and there is some type of animal to his right: it looks like a snake's body but it has ears. Interesting. Wedding scene. We'll see. On another note, I was wearing my homemade backpack. Do you worry that your ideas will be used for profit by others? Envir...
