October found me down in Klamath Falls, Oregon for a few days with the Klamath Country Fly Casters. This long-established fishing group invited me to talk about kayak fly fishing and offered a few incentives to get me to drive 5 hours for a couple days of fishing. DIY Hatch Liner / Gear Bag. The only real solution I could find was to insert a collapsible ground bait bowl. Into the hull. I originally tried to insert the large version (32cm) of the Daiwa Airity bowl into through the centre 8” hatch. I managed to break the re-enforcing hoop in the process, perhaps if I’d inserted it via the front hatch that might not have happened! To neaten the job up and to provide an even sealing surface when re-fitting the bag, I added a ring of neoprene to the top of the bag.

DIY – Hobie AI Trailer. It’s not so long ago since I put the finishing touches to the latest incarnation of my kayak trailer. Since I wrote that article I’ve extended the drawbar by a metre which basically made it ideal for my Adventure Island. Rigging the 2015 Hobie Outback and Adventure Island for Structure Scan. I’ve fitted the Lowrance HDS 7 Gen 3. Onto my 2015 Outback and it came with a Structure Scan transducer. On the Big Game I had a Flambeau marine box behind me which was ideal for storing frozen bait wrapped in paper with a couple of ice blocks. I could keep bait from for many hours, often bringing it home and straight back into the freezer.
