Wednesday, February 01, 2012. By David Brox, davidbrox@shukc.com. I tell everyone this and it hits home more and more. Vernon was born the year I graduated from high school and I have always been active with my nieces, nephews and younger cousins. Vernon at one point called me Uncle David. Nick mentioned earlier about him giving up football and focusing on basketball his sophomore year. He was playing out of position at QB and this is where fate shines through the first time for Vernon. Armand Br...I rem...

http://www.kckpreps.com/2012/12/kck-preps-prospect-tanner-eikenbary.html
KCK Preps Prospect - Tanner Eikenbary (Piper). Saturday, December 15, 2012. By DAVID BROX,. Tanner Eikenbary had a strong junior season and achieved second team All-KVL honors as the quarterback for the Piper Pirates. Couple that with a regional championship and he has the record to establish himself as a real player to watch in the class of 2014. Eikenbary will need to get his completion percentage up and cut down on the interceptions. He will no doubt be on the combines and camp circuit this season.

COMMENTARY: Breaking down some of the early troubles for Bonner Springs. Wednesday, December 19, 2012. By DAVID BROX,. As Vernon Birmingham pointed out last night, Bonner Springs is my home away from home. Considering that two members of the original TeamSHUKC played there made me a fan of the school. Seeing the team struggle this bad is disheartening and I want to offer some analysis on what I have seen. 1 Bonner will need to realize that they have two teams. 2 Hack a Howell was in full effect. Baptista, Gonzales should be fired over Harmon ineligibility saga ~ KCK PREPS

Baptista, Gonzales should be fired over Harmon ineligibility saga. Friday, July 22, 2011. Harmon head coach Dave Gonzales. There's a reason why the word "student" comes first in the phrase "student-athlete.". Though I'm a big fan and supporter of high school athletics, academics come first at all levels for all players. It's very rare that anyone who played basketball in Kansas City, Kan., the past few years will ever make the NBA. That means the education part is even more important. However, this issue...

The Power 14 - Combined KCK, KVL power rankings. Thursday, December 20, 2012. I'm going to try and do something a little bit new this year. Beginning today, I'm going to do a combined KCK/KVL power rankings list. Yes, that includes all 14 teams. It's pretty early in the season, so this will be a bit flawed. Let's get right into it. 3 Mill Valley (3-2). 4A Basehor-Linwood (4-1) and 4B. Piper (6-1). 7 Sumner Academy (2-4). Sumner Academy's played a tougher schedule, so I stick Schlagle behind Sumner Academ...
