commuterDude: Bicycle to Iowa? No problem!

http://www.commuterdude.com/2014/05/bicycle-to-iowa-no-problem.html

Perfect weather for a bike ride . . . Click for weather forecast. May 1, 2014. One can be fairly confident of their arrival into the very niche bin of lunacy we call randonneuring when the concept of riding a bicycle to Iowa seems more exciting and far easier than driving. Sore, yes. Probably in need of a short nap and a good Perkins refueling, but, a sense of being a little bummed-out washed across me while I hoisted my bike onto the roof rack for the journey home. Something akin to "that's all? Though ...

commuterDude: COLD weather riding, dressing, prepping.

http://www.commuterdude.com/2010/01/cold-weather-riding-dressing-prepping.html

Perfect weather for a bike ride . . . Click for weather forecast. January 1, 2010. COLD weather riding, dressing, prepping. This is a (hopefully) simple guideline about dressing and preparing for cold weather riding, randonneuring, and commuting. Hopefully I'll remember this as I type. but my hope was to make this into a reference-style post. Scroll to find your category and read on:. Finally, dressing for cold weather is dynamic and often depends on a few factors: How used to the conditions are you?

Perfect weather for a bike ride . . . Click for weather forecast. October 3, 2007. Team" G.T. finishes the Tejas 500! Finally, the tale, as best as I can recall it. That brings you up to speed on events leading up to Tejas, sort of a recap of the year to date - This write up is about Tejas, tho… so let’s get to it:. Eventually, the clock ticked down – three hours to race time! Time for a pre-ride meal! It was yummy. More water, water, water, sports drink, hydrate! 8220;5 – 0 – 7…”...Lap two, the same &#8...

Perfect weather for a bike ride . . . Click for weather forecast. April 11, 2014. Perspectives on Princeton - the KCUC 200k, 2014. It's another finish, another March, another one in the books! It's almost as if I've said all that needs to be said, I'd rather be riding than writing about it, maybe. What I'm feeling borders on feeling personally complete. Ride: "(after all we'd been through last March, with the snow), what can't. I can do ANYTHING! Want it. I'm young. I have time. I'm not in a ...To finish...

Perfect weather for a bike ride . . . Click for weather forecast. May 3, 2015. Best Laid Plans, and a Re-run - the Oak Grove 322km report. MO state highway 20. if this view doesn't say "never-gonna-get-there", I don't know what does. For the hearty few, it says "reach." Reach we did. Yeah a little. It's been three weeks since the Oak Grove 322km brevet, and, well. it went pretty much exactly like last year's, with just a few minor changes. Reminds me - I'm very grateful and appreciative of the outpouring...

Perfect weather for a bike ride . . . Click for weather forecast. July 10, 2014. Guest Post: Glen R. - "The Ride From Hell". The Central Iowa 300k - a.k.a. The Ride From Hell. Ok it wasn't that. Bad at all; I only listed as the Ride from Hell so you'd read it. Two of my normal riding buddies, Keith and Steven: very cerebral, funny and some times a little odd. Dan pulled a Gary and bought a sausage and egg sandwich. He said the ever-present Iowa 'Kum-n-Go' stores were pretty much the same as all the C...

Perfect weather for a bike ride . . . Click for weather forecast. October 24, 2006. Tejas Wrap-Up, Part Three. More ramblings, perhaps? That's what this blog is all about, really. Here's some more details about the ride itself, for your reading pleasure. I slept like a rock that night, on a comfortable bed. A full nights' rest! Well, no sense getting upset about it - it was what it was, and so I rose up in the REALLY cold 35º air of the early morning, and prepared to get back on the bike. For the next 12...

Perfect weather for a bike ride . . . Click for weather forecast. June 1, 2014. The Aliceville Twister - The May 200K! I'm immediately aware of how much more tired I'd likely be, had it really been that. Event unfolding under my wheels. Another swig of water, and the pedaling continued for what seemed like hours. I felt like I'd never reach the highway crossing. This IS only 200-some kilometers, right? Had I made a horrible mathematics error? I don't remember any of this. Where's Josh? We picked a perfec...
