The Art of the Letter | Blossom
https://kcoleary.wordpress.com/2013/01/09/the-art-of-the-letter
Words, Wanderlust, and Daydreams by k.c. o'leary. The Art of the Letter. January 9, 2013. Who can honestly deny that they still feel a little jolt of something – dare we call it happiness? When we find, buried amidst the piles of bills and junk mail, a handwritten letter? The art of the letter was once exactly that. An art form. A crafted piece of someone’s creativity and imagination, put on paper that reflected the style of the person signing their name. View all posts by kcoleary ». One response ».
Lies, bribes, threats, and tears | Blossom

Words, Wanderlust, and Daydreams by k.c. o'leary. Lies, bribes, threats, and tears. September 4, 2012. Our daughters have been homeschooled for the last four years. This year, we all decided that it might be a good idea to try public school – for an adventure, to compare the two types of schooling, to broaden their horizons a bit, to give mom a much-needed break and some time to re-invent herself and her goals. Our day began at 6:30. Until, I saw her watery eyes. School is a ton of fun! The art teacher i...

Words, Wanderlust, and Daydreams by k.c. o'leary. September 7, 2012. Here’s a post that I read today that resonated with an issue I’ve been dealing with: Character Development! Hope you all find this helpful, too! The Writer Within You. This wasn’t getting me anywhere, so I considered researching personality types. I came. What is it with kitchen sinks? | Blossom
https://kcoleary.wordpress.com/2012/10/18/what-is-it-with-kitchen-sinks
Words, Wanderlust, and Daydreams by k.c. o'leary. What is it with kitchen sinks? October 18, 2012. Ideas just flow out of them. Literally. A friend of mine confessed that the idea for her novel came to her while washing dishes. There it was, the first line, trickling out of the faucet water. I thought she was so lucky. And, now, here’s my point. Where is the line that an author must cross in order to write a real truth vs. just a good story? And, what’s the big deal anyway? Truth is perception, right?

Words, Wanderlust, and Daydreams by k.c. o'leary. Children's lit writer, artist and restless suburban dweller. Lover of chocolate and naps! January 26, 2016. It’s cold and grey out there today. End of January blight. Which means it’s a perfect time to breath in and open myself up to the minutiae of the day. That’s where the flavor is. The Art of the Letter. January 9, 2013. Stonepost Farm | A suburban adventure, by k.c. o'leary | Page 2

A suburban adventure, by k.c. o'leary. From ram to wether in forty-three seconds. The ram took it like a champ. Not a peep. What had I done? Yep You guessed it. Castration. What has become of me? Not so long ago, I was happy planting tomatoes. Now, I’ve turned into a woman who keeps animals in her barn, encourages them to feel safe and happy, and then BAM, takes them out at the knees. I think I’ll keep to female livestock from now on. Not a great photo but you get the idea! I’m beginning to see the...
That lady’s goats are loose again! | Stonepost Farm
https://stonepostfarm.wordpress.com/2012/07/18/that-ladys-goats-are-loose-again
A suburban adventure, by k.c. o'leary. That lady’s goats are loose again! I’m thankful I even saw that they were loose. I was on my way to the clothesline to hang our bedding when I happened to look up across the pasture. I saw three small black and white smudges moving around my neighbor’s back yard. Looking harder, I realized what those smudges were. The landscapers are gone. The tick checks are complete – my girls are clean. The sweat and gnats have been washed off. As for me, I’m getting pretty...
Swarms of killer technicolored wasps? | Stonepost Farm
https://stonepostfarm.wordpress.com/2012/08/23/swarms-of-killer-technicolored-wasps
A suburban adventure, by k.c. o'leary. Swarms of killer technicolored wasps? This morning, I woke and took in a full gulp of crisp, morning air. I smiled. I knew I had nothing to do but relax today and enjoy the weather. I asked the girls to run out to the barn to take the animals into the back field while I cooked breakfast. Two minutes later, they came racing back in. There are the scariest bugs in the field! 8220;I’m sure they’re harmless,” was my rehearsed reply. The felons are at it again! You are c...
First Snow | Stonepost Farm
https://stonepostfarm.wordpress.com/2012/11/08/first-snow
A suburban adventure, by k.c. o'leary. We had our first snowfall yesterday. The weathermen told us it would be just a dusting, with no real accumulation on the roads. I didn’t want to listen to them. So, I didn’t. (We ended up with six inches! I, for one, am thankful for that opportunity. I’ll keep that gift in mind tonight while I’m sitting under my twinkly lights looking out onto my snowy backyard. Beauty is, afterall, something to be celebrated. It’s the hap-happiest-time-of-the-year! Nov 08, 2012.
Earthing | Stonepost Farm
https://stonepostfarm.wordpress.com/2012/09/19/earthing
A suburban adventure, by k.c. o'leary. It seems completely silly to me that science has found a label for something that should go under the title, “Common Sense.”. This new buzzword is Earthing. The definition is, basically, to connect the human body to Mother Earth to ground itself, thereby balancing the positive charges coursing through our anatomy with the Earth’s negative charges. This, says science, results in health. That a barefoot walk on the beach clears our minds? Call it what you will, Mr....
Just when you think… | Stonepost Farm
https://stonepostfarm.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/just-when-you-think-2
A suburban adventure, by k.c. o'leary. Just when you think…. A few days ago, I was walking in our front field, looking around at all the possibilities that our farm held for us. I was feeling decidedly pessimistic. The list of possibilities went something like this:. The possibility of throwing my back out again while I was double-digging the gardens. The possibility of another tomato blight. The possibility of more “emergency” vet bills. I walked back into the house to open the mail. I’d had it. I rante...

Great (not so great) Aunt Tillie – In Memoriam | Undercurrents
https://michelemanningwrites.wordpress.com/2016/11/16/great-not-so-great-aunt-tillie-in-memoriam
Exploring those mysterious, underlying forces fueling a writing life. Great (not so great) Aunt Tillie – In Memoriam. November 16, 2016. My Great Aunt Tillie passed away last night at the age of 100 years. Aunt Tillie (in red). She was not the typical sweet, old little lady. And thank the stars she wasn’t. I just had to write about her. One of my novels-in-progress, tentatively titled “Rotten Tomatoes” has 13 year old Haley reluctantly moving in with her Great (not so great) Aunt Tillie:. They had been s...

kathy's (mostly) books | what i'm reading and other mutterings
Kathy's (mostly) books. What i'm reading and other mutterings. First status against resolutions take 2. March 11, 2014. Am eating breakfast so I can take meds before I go to work. So need to get back on track…. March 11, 2014. Definitely were the right resolutions, even though I’ve fallen way off the wagon. Sugars were up, so will re-iterate: take meds every day. House is a wreck, so will re-iterate: de-clutter for a few minutes every day. And there was again much rejoicing. January 30, 2014. Meds yes, 2...
