Derbyshire's Medieval World. Archive for September, 2012. The University of Leicester. Could be part of a historic moment as they discover significant findings in the search for King Richard III. At a press conference today, Richard Taylor from the University said that the search had entered a new phase with the discovery of a male skeleton. The facts given at the conference show:. The male skeleton was in good condition. It will now take 12 weeks to carry out extensive DNA tests. September 12, 2012.

Derbyshire's Medieval World. Archive for June, 2011. The Saviles’ Thornhill Hall to be studied. The fascinating history of a medieval West Yorkshire hall which was blown up during the English Civil War is to be studied thanks to a 46,800 grant. The Heritage Lottery Fund award means an archaeological study of the ruins of Thornhill Hall near Dewsbury can begin. The remains of the hall, which was virtually destroyed in 1648, are Grade II-listed and are currently classed as at risk by English Heritage.
