Thing that I learned yesterday (one among many, but this is the most memorable): - Just Janet. 26 January 2014 @ 12:17 pm. Thing that I learned yesterday (one among many, but this is the most memorable):. The first derivative of distance related to time (change in distance over time) (dx/dt) is velocity. The second derivative (change in velocity over time) (d2x/dt2) is acceleration. The third derivative (change in acceleration over time) (d3x/dt3) is jerk. I knew all of those. This makes me very happy.

Oldest and Fatherless: The Terrible Secret of Tom Bombadil. Feb 20th, 2011 at 2:19 PM. This is another of my speculative pieces and nothing to do with Star Wars. This one is for an older trilogy.). What do we know about Tom Bombadil? He is fat and jolly and smiles all the time. He is friendly and gregarious and always ready to help travellers in distress. Except that none of that can possibly be true. And yet no hobbit has ever heard of him. If Bombadil has indeed lived in the Old Forest all this time &n...

Canada's Parliament passes Transgender Rights bill - Trans News

News concerning the Transgender community around the world. Canada's Parliament passes Transgender Rights bill. Mar 20th, 2013 at 7:47 PM. Bill C-279 has passed. It's strange, but in the more than 150 jurisdictions in North America alone where similar protections have been enacted, not one trans person has ever been charged with a sexual assault in a washroom. Not one. You can't say that for Conservatives. Now it has to get through the Senate, where Bill Siksay's bill died during the last election. Ok, l...

Hugo reading - scott_sanford
http://scott-sanford.livejournal.com/34850.html
July 1st, 2015. I have now finished reading the non-Puppy finalists for Best Novel: Ancillary Sword, The Three Body Problem, and The Goblin Emperor (listed in the order I read them). I'm not going into detail of my reactions here and now but it struck me as interesting that two of the three make use of pronoun customs different from English. Characters in the Ancillary novels use a language without gendered pronouns and the text uses "she" for everyone, to the discomfort of the Sad Puppies. Powered by Li...

Well, in Atlas Shrugged, she did an okay job of describing some major shortcomings of society. Would have been better if someone had edited it with a machete.
