I was very sad to hear that he passed away on Monday last as a result of domestic accident in his garage at his new home in Lincolnshire. It seems he was taken to hospital in Peterborough by emergency ambulance but did not survive. On behalf of the club I have sent a condolence card to his wife and family. My brother Chris regularly fishes the River Wye and on Monday took me barbel fishing on a Lower Wye day ticket water. Chris had not been there before so it was going to be a first for him, too. We set up with feeders and various flavoured baits. The Wye is a big river for the UK - about 135 miles long and wanders back and forth across the Wales/England border in the lower reaches. The first competition of 2015 was held on Saturday 18. January at what remains our most frequently used winter venue. As usual the winner would be the angler whose first two fish weighed the most.
