Background to the formation of Kenninghall Lands Trust. Reg Charity No. 1096221. Two Kenninghall residents volunteered as Tree Wardens under the National Tree Warden Scheme. Various tree and hedge planting schemes were organised in and around the village. The Tree Wardens, with a small group of like minded people, formed Kenninghall Hedgers to expand on the work that had already begun. An exhibition highlighting the loss of hedgerows, trees, and ponds was held in Kenninghall Parish Church.

Reg Charity No. 1096221. In the spring of 2002 an opportunity arose to purchase for 30,000 10.5 acres of arable land adjoining Kenninghall Wood. This would provide a total of 15.5 acres of community woodland with the attendant environmental benefits in an intensively farmed landscape. The combined woods have become a much used local amenity as evidenced by the well worn paths.
