HBCU or no HBCU? On: December 1, 2010. Private colleges typically cost more than public colleges. I go to a private college and my tuition is $40,000, which is a lot, especially since the average public school cost under $20,000. Other private colleges cost about the same, but they are provided with more things than we are. Nothing useful. That makes me laugh every time I think about it because it is just so ridiculous.
