As a way to recruit new members, we host a Mom’s Night Out every month at cool venues across Los Angeles. These nights allow our members to introduce their friends to our work and hopefully motivate them to sign up and join our movement. Through a short presentation and video we give an overview of who we are, who we serve and an update of news and upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. In our inaugural year 2015, the Alliance of Moms grew from 5 Founders to 200 members.

Jules moved to Los Angeles with her husband Crispin from their native England in 2003. Her mother and aunt spent most of their early childhood in foster care group homes. Jules’s mom was 18 when she had her brother and 20 years old when Jules was born. Jules hopes through her work with the Alliance of Moms to honor the people who helped her own mother navigate a childhood that involved abandonment and abuse by serving young people in similar circumstances in her newly adopted community of Los Angeles.

Raising Baby — Alliance of Moms

Raising Baby is Alliance of Moms’ flagship event held twice a year. It’s a fun day of educational parenting workshops for LA’s pregnant and parenting foster youth. The day is attended by pregnant and parenting teens and their children. The approximately 100 youth come to us through the foster care system and probation department, ranging in age from 14 years to 23 years with the majority of attendees under the age of 18. Approximately 20% of attendees are young fathers. The event is a fun and lively one!
