Thursday, October 13, 2011. Great News.Onward and upward. Today I went back to see Dr. Thackar in regards to my blood counts. Hooray.my WBC count is back up to 5.4 and the surgery is on! Surgery is next week on Wednesday October 19 at 7:30 am. I am so relieved to know we are going to get it done. My Red cell count and H&H are still too low but they are just planning on transfusing me during surgery to take care of that problem. Aren't they the cutest? I can't believe how big Hailey is! Monday, June 27, 2011. Dad's birthday (June 18th), Scandinavian Festival in Astoria. We have a lot to celebrate in June, The following week-end was Dad's 85th birthday! Thursday, July 28, 2011. I'm anxious to get my test results today. Will follow up on the blog when I get back. Still battling "fatigue".this is just not "my bag". I'm back, it was a long day. I'm just going to review the facts I know and "hit the sack". Tumor has shrunk from 3.5cm to 1.0 cm! My heart is in great shape, they say it is because I am walking every day. (running and biking for years before probably didn't hurt either) Walking helps protect it from the affects of the chemo. NOT SO GOOD NEWS:.

Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Well, I made it.the last chemotherapy! What a relief. It felt so good to be there and to be able to think, "this is it.never again.I'm done with this! I looked around at my fellow cancer patients and felt great compassion and love for them all. We are all warriors in this fight, and we all do the best that we can. Thursday, March 31, 2011. First Day With Oncologists. Here's the down and dirty for the day:. Tests show I have an aggressive cancer. I had an MRI, they think it may be larger than the CT SCAN showed, won't know results until Monday. Starting Chemotherapy first instead of Surgery (will explain in dialogue). Therefore getting a "Smart Port" (Port-a-cath) which is a central line that goes straight into my heart. Will be surgically inserted sometime next week. Will then have radiation.
