The Right and Kind Reverend: Turning down the noise
http://right-and-kind.blogspot.com/2011/07/turning-down-noise.html
The Right and Kind Reverend. Start as you mean to go on. Saturday, July 09, 2011. Turning down the noise. I was perusing the forums at Bhuz*. And I came across an incredibly helpful reading recommendation from Ozma. A student dancer was explaining how her old teacher had helped her to get out of her own head (my words) regarding dancing. In response, Ozma recmmended the book How to Dance Forever. So, know your moves! How many times have you fumbled your dancing because you didn't know the music? And no, ...

Twinkle twinkle, shiny things......: Being Creative
http://blackwillowboho.blogspot.com/p/being-creative.html
Being a Belly Bancer. It's true to say that I have always loved to paint and draw and make. And dance. And write. And cook. At this point in time (2012) I feel that I am at a cross-roads creatively, and there are lots of things I've not done yet that I want to try. Can you believe that I have never made an art journal? There are a great many things I have to try and now is the time to do it because one day I'll be gone. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I teach belly dance. I teach belly dance. I became a moth...

Twinkle twinkle, shiny things......: May 2014
http://blackwillowboho.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Being a Belly Bancer. Sunday, 4 May 2014. I have some new pretties to show you. Here's all of them plus a few others, all at once! I love to display them in this way, it's so sumptuous, and it's a great way to use my Assuit scarf as a prop. This is the big momma of the clutch. An altered and be-dangled Turkoman pendant, with the addition of a pyrite, smokey quartz, pearl, glass and crystal necklace. This one, although similar has coins and fluorites, kyanites and glass. Twinkle twinkle, shiny things......: April 2013
http://blackwillowboho.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Being a Belly Bancer. Sunday, 7 April 2013. Since my last post I've been reflecting, feeling anxious and hugely uncreative. Not good eh? Hmm, no, not good at all. I'm struggling and feel as though I'm swimming against the tide - my swimming strength is not good and I feel unable to go further out to a distant shore, nor to swim back to safety and so my strength is sapped and my resolve is weakening. Filled with sadness I have to keep swimming but my arms are tired and I don't know where to swim to. I bec...

Turn it off! | Afra al Kahira

Oriental Dance – The Way I See It! Good manners cost nothing. We’ve all seen it happening whether it’s from the stage or as a member of the audience – that sea of people using electronic devices during a performance. Have we lost the art of being courteous both to the performers and other members of the audience during a show? Not quite, but it’s not far off! Please don’t get me wrong, I couldn’t manage without my mobile phone and I am an avid photographer but there is a time and place for th...Nothing c...

When the passion has gone, what are we left with? | Afra al Kahira
https://afraalkahira.wordpress.com/2014/12/03/when-the-passion-has-gone-what-are-we-left-with
Oriental Dance – The Way I See It! When the passion has gone, what are we left with? I am writing this in response to this post by Emma Chapman on her blog – http:/ emmabellydancer.co.uk/one-thing. There were just a tiny handful of dancers whose performances commanded the stage, full of expression and passion – those were the dancers who didn’t place. What is presented to an audience then leaves them with the impression that there’s more passion and feeling in a piece of Blu Tack! There is a breathtaking...
