NZ Diary: HOT!

http://kiwisues.blogspot.com/2012/02/hot.html

A description of what I get up to in my new life Down Under. Thursday, February 09, 2012. This week I have been mostly HOT! I have been very lucky having 2 x 4 day weeks and am currently dreading going back to a 5 day week (tomorrow)! Anyhoo, have been out and about a little this Saturday and took some photos for you to peruse. Not cold - just very humid and rainy and cloudy - PLOPS! Still - we did have a nice (albeit hot) runabout yesterday and here are some piccies for you. What a lovely day - shame we...

http://kiwisues.blogspot.com/2012/02/why-is-it.html

A description of what I get up to in my new life Down Under. Saturday, February 18, 2012. Have been to opticians for check up - nothing unusual in that really I hear you say - and you would be absolutely right! But - why is it that whenever they ask you to read out loud letters on a chart with one eye covered, do they then ask you to read from the EXACTLY THE SAME CHART AGAIN with the other eye covered. I mean - I know what the letters are from last time! Well - on that note - I've gotta go! Auckland, Ne...

NZ Diary: May 2006

http://kiwisues.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html

A description of what I get up to in my new life Down Under. Saturday, May 27, 2006. Well - we've just had the celebrations of the Maori Queen's 40th anniversary of her succession. I used this with my class in our News and Views Friday session. I was trying to get across the fact that she has been Queen for a long time and that is why she is very tired this year, so I told my class that when she was made Queen I was nearly 2 years old. "Wow, you're really old, came back the response". Last weekend, I cau...

Big World ... Small Garden: April (snow) showers

http://bigworldsmallgarden.blogspot.com/2008/04/april-snow-showers.html

Sunday, 6 April 2008. Was it only a few days ago that I was cutting the grass because the weather was so warm and dry and the leaves were budding on the trees? Well, that all changed today, it has snowed all afternoon and forecast for minus 1 tonight! Here are a few pictures of the snow. I know that you don't really want to see snow in April, but your garden does look lovely! I love your blog! Your garden is so pretty. 7 April 2008 at 11:31. Big World ... Small Garden: colour on a grey, damp Sunday afternoon

http://bigworldsmallgarden.blogspot.com/2008/04/colour-on-grey-damp-sunday-afternoon.html

Sunday, 20 April 2008. Colour on a grey, damp Sunday afternoon. The alpine clematis on the fence is dripping with fat blue flower buds - gorgeous. It's a bit chilly to 'garden' even though hubby has gone off this afternoon to Durham for the first cricket match of the season - warmly wrapped! I wonder how long the Hosta shoots will last until the slugs gobble them up? Small flowered clematis dripping with blooms. Good old pansies - still flowering, better than ever! As you know, creepy crawlies and me don...

Big World ... Small Garden: June 2008

http://bigworldsmallgarden.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, 8 June 2008. Orchids, swans, terns and buttercups. See how the orchids are thriving! A swan too close - boy, can they hiss! It wasn't us - a dog (not ours) got too close to the cygnets. The weather has been warm and sunny so a couple of days ago we had a short stroll around Watergate Park which was built on a former colliery spoil heap. You may remember that last year around this time I spotted a beautiful flower which turned out to be a. Yellow iris around the pond and below a group of Buttercups.

http://bigworldsmallgarden.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Monday, 20 August 2007. Normal service will resume soon. Mam's shoulder is feeling a lot better and she'll be blogging again soon. Whilst she's not doing any gardening she's planning a huge list of jobs for us all to do! I've popped on to share some photographs of our garden visitor who arrived yesterday. Although we get lots of birds in our garden we've never had a squirrel in this garden, he caused quite a stir when he arrived. Love from Andrea x. Tuesday, 14 August 2007. Love from Andrea xx. Wednesday, 14 May 2008. Summertime at last . We've had some glorious sunshine, really warm (we could actually eat our evening meal on the patio! And everything in the garden is bursting with fresh colour. Remember my first attempt at making compost in a huge plastic bin? Well, it works a treat. To-day I have shovelled 4 wheelbarrows of dark, crumbly compost - I am so pleased! I will continue to add my veg and garden waste and will look forward to more free compost at the end of the year! Friday, 22 February 2008. On a cold and frosty morning! We've enjoyed some beautifully sunny days with clear blue skies, but the overnight frosts have been very thick - but very pretty. These are photographs taken during the past week are of plants in my garden, early morning before the sun melted the frost. Frost so thick, it almost looks like snow. Through My Eyes

I've always thought that one of the coolest things humans have ever created was the camera because it allows us to actually see what someone else saw at the moment they saw it, no matter how amazing or mundane the view. It's like getting inside someone else's head. Each photograph is like a little miracle, a moment frozen in time. I invite you to share what I saw through my eyes. Hibiscus seem to be as common to Belize as dandelions are to Laurel…. Guess which are the loudest monkeys in the world? Went t...
