knit-tigger

Monday, August 04, 2014. I went to Wales last weekend to attend a spinning workshop with Sarah Anderson, author of. The Spinner's Book of Yarn Designs. Sarah was in the UK as a tutor at Fibre East but agreed to do another workshop which was organised by Katie Weston (of. Fame) and the lovely spinners of the. I was a bit slow to get the hang of the Supercoils so had to finish my Crepe yarn in the hotel after the workshop but it turned out okay. I drove back on the Sunday taking a detour via Colwyn Bay.

knit-tigger: Endpaper Mitts

http://knit-tigger.blogspot.com/2013/05/endpaper-mitts.html

Saturday, May 04, 2013. Yesterday I finished my Endpaper Mitts. By Eunny Jang). As I said in an earlier post I wanted to learn to knit Fair Isle carrying one colour in each hand and I seem to have cracked it. Once I got into the rhythm of it it's not that difficult so I'll probably be doing some more Fair Isle in the not too distant future. It also has the added advantage, like knotting socks, of astonishing non knitters. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tribulations of Hand Spinning and Herbal Dying.

knit-tigger: September 2009

http://knit-tigger.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 06, 2009. Well, except for lining it. That could wait for some time knowing me! Anyhow I've pictured it against the fabric I'm intending to use for the lining so you can use your imagination! Close up of the detail. All the information about it is on my project page in Ravelry. I'm already planning the next project. There was an open weekend at Texere. This weekend, so being contrary I went to Coldspring. Mill I was hoping to get some Noro. Except that odd stringy stuff.

knit-tigger: October 2010

http://knit-tigger.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 18, 2010. On Saturday the theme of the Bradford Guild. Meeting was colour blending . Alison Daykin. Came to give us a talk and lead a workshop on the topic. We'd been asked to bring a selection of fibre in the three primary colours plus black and white; an inspirational picture; our hand carders and a spinning wheel. Being me I forgot my inspirational picture but luckily Alison had some to spare so I borrowed one of hers; a picture of the Australian outback. Once we were happy with the ro...

knit-tigger: Meet the Family

http://knit-tigger.blogspot.com/2013/04/meet-family.html

Friday, April 19, 2013. At the moment I have five wheels as I sold my Haldane Orkney to a fellow Raveller last year. We said our farewells at FibreEast. The Orkney was the second wheel I bought. When I originally started looking at spinning wheels on Ebay many moons ago, I saw a castle wheel that I loved the look of but I didn't win it. The first one that I did. There're lots of spinning adventures out there to look forward to. Saturday 20th April 18:56. The Lonsdale is safely at its new home in North Yo...

Looking forward. | Nickerjac

https://nickerjac.wordpress.com/looking-forward

I guess it’s the traditional end of year blog entry, it’s not been the best of years for us for a number of reasons and although I know it could have been far worse I don’t think I am being to self indulgent in saying it has been pretty crap. So putting that behind us and looking forward to next year, I don’t think making new years resolutions will help my stress levels so I’m just going to list some things I would like to do something about this year. 4 The final thing I want to do is completely inspire...

Next Post →. January 28, 2015 · 9:01 pm. Robert William Wyborn 1945-2015. Yesterday I lost my dad. Here he is looking handsome on his wedding day in 1967. I loved my Dad, we didn’t always see eye to eye about things and he wasn’t perfect, who is? But always at the end of everything he was my dad. He also brought me up through those horrible teenage years, (I really was horrible) hard work for a couple let alone a single man. Next Post →. 4 responses to “. Robert William Wyborn 1945-2015. Next Post →. January 2, 2015 · 9:15 pm. A Brand New Year. Unfortunately I have come to realise after many years this doesn’t mean a brand new me. I was looking for last years new year post which seems to have vanished, I am sure I did one but did find the years before and I seem to be repeating myself a lot. I know some people are doing the 15 in 15 idea which I first read about on http:/ madeinoxford.wordpress.com which is a wonderful idea but haven’t quite managed to fit into that format. An adventure with sheep's wool - shearing it, preparing it, spinning it , dying it , knitting . the learning is endless! Links to some of my learning videos bottom page. Sunday, February 23, 2014. Green Peridot scarf gets a copper pin. I've added some modifications to the copper shawls pin - a tiny beed on the tip (to stop it snagging on the yarn) and a little chain between the stylus and the main broach so it won't escape and get lost - or wind up where it should not be. DroimAnUan: Spinning Merino Purples

http://droimanuan.blogspot.com/2015/03/spinning-merino-purples.html

An adventure with sheep's wool - shearing it, preparing it, spinning it , dying it , knitting . the learning is endless! Links to some of my learning videos bottom page. Sunday, March 15, 2015. After getting hold of a bag of Merino roving (from Wingham Wool Work I think) with 13 shades of purples and mauves, I decided to spin sequential colors in the singles and then ply. The solution: chain the sliver nests together in order as each one is spun so it can't get away then put the chains back in the bag.

New Drop Spindle - a delight. In addition to the BFL roving I bought at Woolfest, I also fell for a lovely hand-made drop spindle (I will. Find the makers name). It just suited my hand - such an opportunity to test-drive several spindles and find the one that suits. Links to this post. Lovely wools and crafts.

I've spun about 145 gms of the Merino roving in lilacs and puples. There was only a little bleeding on the first rinse and none so far in the second. I'm hoping the sampling the hank and letting it hang-dry will even out some of the slobber parts. Here it is on the swift before soaking:. Links to this post. Somewh...
