Sunidesus Knits

July 15, 2011. This started out as a desire to give some knitterly presents to the w00tstock. Guys My original idea was something smaller (like hats) but once I figured out what I wanted to do for the pattern I knew that wouldn't work. They will be (or have been, depending on when this is read) delivered at the San Diego w00tstock on July 21. So the pattern. The large chunk of colorwork is the lyrics to the song "The Captain's Wife's Lament" by Paul and Storm. Sizing: 7'11" long, 4.5-5" wide. The black i...

Diamond Shawl (Sunidesus Knits)

http://knit.sunidesus.net/2010/04/diamond_shawl.html

This shawl was created because I needed something to fill the role of a light spring/fall jacket. Plus, I really like cables and the shape I chose for this let me use all kinds of 'em! The sides easily cover my wrists, and the two front points hang down almost to my knees. It's supposed to replace a jacket so I wanted it to be large. That also means that it is a LOT of fabric with skinny yarn on tiny needles. It was quite a bit of work. Needles: 2's (2.75mm). Yarn: Lisa Souza Fingering - Elektra. This pa...

Sunidesus Knits: Knitting Archives

http://knit.sunidesus.net/knitting

March 9, 2006. So here we go with my first knitting project on the Craft Blog! When I went to get my first nice yarn at a "real" yarn store, the lady there suggested keeping track of what I make so that in the future if I want to repeat something or use a similar yarn or something I have it all written down. And since I'm a geek that is now yet another blog! But this way it's also easy to search and can easily include pictures and links and all kinds of geeky goodness! This is from a pattern found here.

My Generic Sock Pattern (Sunidesus Knits)

http://knit.sunidesus.net/2008/12/my_generic_sock_pattern.html

Laquo; More Changing Color Slip Stitching. Elysia Socks ». My Generic Sock Pattern. I figured I really should write this up somewhere so I can just link to it instead of writing down all the steps every single time. So here it is! I like toe-up on circs so I do the magic cast-on. Except instead of a slip knot for the very first stitch I just kind of loop the yarn around the needle. The non-slip knot version can be found here. The increase rows start 3 inches before the length of the foot, so for me I sta...

Sunidesus Knits: Gloves Archives

http://knit.sunidesus.net/knitting/gloves

January 29, 2007. From Knitty. I used Rowan Wool Cotton. In color 955 Ship Shape, which is a slightly blueish green. It's really soft and yummy to work with. Size 4 needles as per the pattern, of course I used a circular and did it Magic Loop style instead of on dpn's but that's not really a pattern modification. For the fingers I did 7 rows on each of them. If I do this pattern again I'd do a couple fewer rows on the pinky finger, but the rest of them were fine. That'd be a couple days at the end of Oct...

http://kyleknits.blogspot.com/2008/02/new-knitting-bag.html

Kyle Knits - a boy, his cats and way too much yarn. Thursday, February 21, 2008. I am a bag-a-holic. Not only am I addicted to knitting and yarn, but I am addicted to finding the "right" think to keep my knitting in. I have LOTS of bags - but can't have too many. Recently, I discovered military surplus (as if it's a new thing! And found an online place that sells the name patches for uniforms, etc. But doing a simple search online will give you a number of them to choose from! Happy Thursday, Everyone!

http://kyleknits.blogspot.com/2008/03/top-down-raglan-progress-and-gap.html

Kyle Knits - a boy, his cats and way too much yarn. Friday, March 21, 2008. Top Down Raglan Progress and GAP suggestion! This pattern is so easy and relaxing - I'm done with the body of the sweater and put the neck band on last night - it's time to pick up and knit sleeves! I'm being hopeful, I know, but I think I'll have this done in a week or so! That being said, check it out - once I get my car back from the shop in a few weeks, I am most certainly going to add GAP protection to my policy! I bought a ...

If you're playing with fate (tempting it) please go get insurance NOW. Having someone on your side is quite helpful. Here's a photo of my car, towed to it's temporary resting spot (purgatory) waiting for me to send it to the car hospital - it made it out there today. and should be fixed in a few weeks. http://kyleknits.blogspot.com/2008/03/goodbye-knit-cafe.html

Kyle Knits - a boy, his cats and way too much yarn. Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Goodbye, Knit Cafe :(. For those of you in the West Hollywood, CA area, some sad news has been discovered. Suzan Mischer's store, Knit Cafe is closing. Its location on Melrose Ave. She has yet to find another location with realistic rent, so, after April 6th, we'll only be able to shop with her through her website. EVERYTHING IN THE STORE IS 50% OFF! So, just a quick sad post - its frustrating that rent and finances must drive...

http://kyleknits.blogspot.com/2008/04/more-yarn-are-you-kidding.html

Kyle Knits - a boy, his cats and way too much yarn. Monday, April 28, 2008. Before I get into the yarn that I got this weekend, here's another finished object:. I made another yarmulke using Jenny White's pattern from Greetings from Knit Cafe - I used KPM. And this one turned out a bit too small - it's more "boy" sized - but fits pretty well as a skull cap on my day of the dead skull I got during our trip to Mexico this past February! OK - Simply Knitting was having a 50% off everything (but Noro. I also...

Kyle Knits - a boy, his cats and way too much yarn. Monday, April 07, 2008. Hellos and Good Buys - Weekend in Review. On Saturday, we went to Tomatomania. A great place to buy heirloom tomatoes. I bought 11 different kinds and can't wait (for 70 /- days to go buy) until I have lots of neat tomatoes. My favorite sandwich is heirloom tomatoes. Vinegar, a little mayo, some basil and a lettuce of some sort - on a nice soft bread. YUM! But all in all, for my first complete pair, I'm pretty darn proud! Is/was ...

http://kyleknits.blogspot.com/2008/05/strawberry-festival.html

Kyle Knits - a boy, his cats and way too much yarn. Sunday, May 18, 2008. First, a note about knitting - yes, I have been knitting - I am close to finishing my snowflake sweater, and the rust top down raglan. I'm plugging along on something special for a friend who donated a enameled box to the shop at www.kylewilliam.com. What a beautiful day! This was the third time I have gone to the Strawberry Festival. There were hundreds (literally) of craft booths - we bought some candles, some candied pecans and ...

My my, how time flies - we're already in the 3rd month of 2008 - I can't believe it! We got rid of all kinds of stuff and we're happy to claim a little more space in the garage! Saturday afternoon, I met a wonderful angel - her name is Kelli and she offered to help me clean up my circular sock knitting machine. We bent a few needles getting it going, but I'm beyond happy!

2016 BWM shade card round up. March 14th, 2016. This year’s shade card from Bendigo Woollen Mills arrived right in the middle of a warm and very humid week, when anything associated with knitting seemed like the most unappealing thing in the world. Now that the temperature and humidity has dropped, I feel brave enough to crack the shade card open and have a squiz. Bubblegum (pink, shade number 356), Gumleaf (mid green, 357) and Shadow (light grey, 364) added to the 8 ply range. I’m really pleased t...

Rhinebeck 2014 (she wore it after all.). October 20th, 2014. Zuzu’s Chromatic Cardigan makes her look a little bit like a fluffy linebacker. When she first tried it on she was so excited to make Mama happy, that I had to suppress the look of horror my face was dying to make. Reluctantly, I brought the sweater to Rhinebeck anyway. I luckily had another sweater on-hand for her – a hand-me-down handknit. That I’d made for her cousin Ashley. This is us when we first got to Rhinebeck:. We played in the leaves.
